Congregation entertained by Bellringers
A large number attended the
Advent service on Sunday morning
at the LondesboroUnited Church.
Greeting were Rev. Snihur and
JackTamblyn. The ushers were
Dennis Penfound, Bill Bromley,
Don McGregor and Ed Salverda.
Carol singing held at 10:45 a.m.
wasledbyRev. Snihurwith Gail
Lear at the organ, assisted by Sara
Lyons and Deanna Lyon. Rev.
Snihur gave the call to worship and
welcomed all, especially the Bell
ringers from Wingham. He gave
the announcements. Mabel Scott
passed away at Huron view, age 74.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday. The flowers in the
church were in loving memory of
Isabel (Jameison), wife of Arthur
Colson, Clinton, age 69. Next
Sunday the Family Christmas
Service will be on December 24,
Christmas Eve and a Candlelight
Service will be at 8 p.m. Children
collected Christmas ornaments
from the congregation and the
choir decorated the tree with them.
The third advent “candle of
peace” was lit by John and Helen
Lyons and family.
At the children’s time there was
a chocolate church mouse puppet
who found a Christmas tree. Junior
teacher wasYvonne Hoggart. TTie
Wingham Bellringers favored with
two numbers, which were enjoyed
by all.
The scripture lesson was from
Luke 2, “Christ is born.” The
sermon was “A time for Peace.”
After church apotluck dinner
was served, after which Crystal
Whyte conducted some games.
Grade 2 and under played the
“fruit” game by musical chairs.
The older ones played “close your
eyes and guess who is touching
you.” A sing song was led by Gail
and Harry Lear. When “Jingle
Bells” was sung Santa Claus came
and treats were given to the
children. Rev. Snihur thanked the
. Life and Work committee.
