Mrs. McPhail is a resident of the home, which hosted the annual event, with the help of staff and volunteers, family and friends. Former Morris resident dies VERNA AMELIA SOMERS Verna Amelia Viola Somers passed away at the Callander Nursing Home December 11,1986. She was in her 85th year. Santa Claus visits residents Santa Claus visited the residents of the Callandar Nursing Home on Saturday, Dec. 6. Santa took advantage of being in town for the annual Brussels Santa Claus Par­ ade to drop in for a visit. Barb and Donald Dunbar pre­ sented a bird feeder to the residents of the home to provide entertainment during the winter months. On Sunday, Dec. 7, Jim Lawrie went out to church with Doug and Evelyn Purdy. Randy and Cathy Fischer visited with Ethel Fischer. Campbell Grant and family visited with Gordon Grant. Ray Stewart visited Eva and Oliver Stewart. On Monday, Millie Nixon visited Maggie Griffith. Representative of the Salvation Army visited the residents. Residents of the home had Christmas tea at Donna Lowes’. Edna Pletch visited Doro­ thy Higgins. Fran Bremner and Nora Steven- Councillor's resignation dominates Hullett meeting The resignation of Vic Stack­ house from his seat on Hullett Township Council dominated the meeting of December 2, with little other business on the agenda. After accepting Mr. Stack­ house’s resignation, council gave first, second and third reading, and passed a by-law to fill the vacancy on council by appointment. Appli­ cations to fill the vacancy must be son visited on Thursday with Elsie Shaw .Mary Bradshaw visited with Winnifred McPhail. Ray Stewart visited with Eva and Oliver Stewart. In other business, council a- greed to instruct the road superin­ tendent to purchase and install an overhead chainfall. Council also agreed to turn down an offer from the O.M.E. to join a reciprocal insurance plan at this time. The next regular council meet­ ing will be held on December 16.
