chairman
Art Clark of Wingham has been
re-elected chairman of the Huron
County Board of Education, a
position to which he was first
elected at the Board’s Innaugural
meeting in 1985, after serving for
two terms as vice-chairman.
In making the nomination, John
Elliott, trustee for Blyth, Morris
and East Wawanosh, said that
since Mr. Clark was first elected to
the board by supporters in Wing
ham, Howick and Turnberry in
1982, he had worked on a number
of committees, and had “served
the Board tremendously well.”
At the innaugural meeting
December 1, John Jewitt, RR 1,
Londesboro, was re-elected vice-
chairman of the board; Joan Van
Den Broek of RR 4, Goderich, was
re-elected chairman of the Educa
tion Committee; Tony McQuail of
RR 1, Lucknow, was re-elected
chairman of the Management
Committee; and Graeme Craig of
RR 1, Walton, was re-elected
chairman of the Personnel Com
mittee.
All positions were re-elected by
acclamation, except for the posi
tion of Member-at-Large, which
had two nominations: Sally Rath-
well of RR 5, Clinton, and Donald
McDonald of RR 2, Brussels. After
election by secret ballot, Mr.
McDonald was declared the winn
er.
The position of Member-at-
Large is usually held by the
Board’s immediate past chairman,
which has been trustee Eugene
FrayneofRR3, Goderich. How
ever, due to the repercussions of
Bill 30, the provincial bill transferr
ing jurisdiction for the children of
separate school supporters in
Huron to the Huron/Perth Separ
ate School Board, Mr. Frayne will
no longer have a seat on the Huron
Board after Dec. 31, 1986.
Earlier in the meeting, the Board
selected Mr. McDonald as its
representative to the Ontario
Public School Trustees Association
(OPSTA), with Mr. Craig as
alternate. John Elliott of Blyth was
the 1986 representative, but felt
that the pressure of business
excluded him from taking on the

its first Directors meeting in
Toronto in January.
