Hundreds of children from the Blyth area had a chance to talk with Santa Claus and get a bag of candy from the jolly old gent in Blyth Saturday afternoon. Santa’s helpers, the Blyth Lions Club, also showed a movie to the children at Blyth Memorial Hall. NOTICE RESIDENTS OF BLYTH Garbage Pickup Tuesday, Dec. 23 Tuesday, Dec. 30 (instead of the regular Wednesday) f\ Church holds White Gift service Blyth United Church Sunday School conducted the White Gift Service at the church on Sunday. Lori Appleby narrated each phase of the celebration, and Kevin Souch read the first scripture. The choir was augmented by the intermediate and junior choirs for this service. Sung between each celebration were “Good News,’’ “A Song as a Gift of God”, “Were You There”, “There’s a Song in the Air”, “Oh to have been” and “Sing Out the News”. The nursery and kindergarten classes sang “Happy Birthday, Jesus” around a lighted birthday cake and presented their white gifts. The grade one and two classes told about the sharing of gifts, and presented their gifts. Members of the intermediate and senior class­ es presented a skit about Christ­ mas customs. The congregation was led in singing the hymn “Joy to the World” by the brass ensemble of Julie Howson, Elaine Poore, Hea­ ther Bauman and Ken Bauman. Four intermediate boys acted as ushers. Each member of the congregation was given a large star by the members of the Sunday School and the church was beauti­ fully decorated for the Christmas season. All vehicles must be removed from Village Streets, from roadways of the municipality, between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Violatorswill be prosecuted or will be required to bear the cost of having their vehicle towed away. The owner of any such parked vehicle will be liable for any damage to the said vehicle or to snow plow equipment.
