The money is to be used for the purchase of a water bed for chronic care patients. Legion donates to hospital Members of the Blyth Legion have donated a cheque for $330 to the Clinton Public Hospital, for the purchase of a water bed which will be used for the care of veterans and others in long-term care in the facility. Hospital administrator Terry Adshead accepted the cheque from people around James Carter, Lloyd Appleby, Don Giousher, Doug Bell, George Hamm and Raymond Chartier. Flower bearers were Dan O’Brien and Norman Munroe. Mary Campbell of Blyth was among those who took part in a bus trip September 17 which visited the Hollandia Cookie bakery at Mount Bridges and the Strathroy furni­ ture factory. The trip was organiz­ ed by Helen McBurney and Nicholson Bus Lines. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Youngblut of Niagara Falls, Ont. and Mrs. Tim Thomas and children Bradley and Stephanie, visited on the weekend at the home of the former’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Longman and George, of Blyth. The money was raised through the 1985 poppy campaign conduct­ ed last November by the Blyth Long time mail carrier dies at age 66 PHYLLIS MAE COLE [WE ARNE] Phyllis Mae Cole of Blyth died in Clinton Public Hospital on Sept. 15, 1986. She was 66 years of age. Mrs. Cole was known to many, particularly in Morris township where she was a rural mail carrier for 39 years. She was born in Long Branch, Ontario, and marri­ ed in Woodstock in 1940 to Thomas William Cole. Mr. Cole survives his wife. Also surviving are one son, ■ Gerald of Sarnia and one grand­ daughter, Michelle. A sister Betty, Mrs. Mel Dawe of Toronto, also survives. Mrs. Cole was a member of Blyth United Church. The funeral was held Sept. 17, from the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth with Rev. Ken Bauman officiating. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Legion, Branch 420 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. Caldwell said that the cheque was presented atthistimein recognition of the fact that September 21-27 is traditionally Legion Week in Can­ ada.
