Thresher Reunion Schedule of Events FRIDAY 12 noon: Craft show opens 1:30 p.m.: main show opens 4:30 p.m.: Parade of equipment in the grounds. 6:00 p.m.: Craft show closes. 7:30 p.m.: Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Jamboree in the arena auditorium. SATURDAY 8-11 a.m.: Pancake breakfast, served by Blyth Fire Department at the fire hall. 9 a.m.: Grounds open, craft show opens. 12 noon: parade downtown Blyth, from Dinsley Street East end, then along main street. 1:30 p.m.: Old Tyme Fiddlers’ competition. 4:30 p.m.: Parade of equipment, in the grounds. 6:00 p.m.: Craft show closes. 9:00p.m.: Dance in the arena auditorium with the Heritage Fiddlers. SUNDAY 8-11 a.m.: Pancake breakfast, served bythe Blyth Fire Department at the fire hall. Sunday morning church services at local churches. 9 a.m.: grounds and Craft Show open. 2:00 p.m.: Step dance competition. 6:00 p.m.: Show closes. While Blyth’s biggest one- week attraction is bringing people flocking to the annual Thresher’s Reunion, Blyth’s other big summer attraction The Blyth Festival goes on. For visitors to the Thresher Reunion there are three per­ formances of the hit comedy “Cake-Walk” at Blyth Mem­ orial Hall in downtown Blyth during the Reunion. Cake-Walk is a light-hearted comedy about a spirited cake­ baking contest as part of a Canada Day celebration in a small town. The personal lives of four of the contestants manage to find their way into the contest. The show as a sold-out hit when it first debuted at the Festival in 1984 and has been brought back for all those who missed it the first time around. Tickets are available from the Festival box office in Memorial Hall or by calling 523-9300 or 523-9225. There will be a performance on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Even when performances are sold out there are a number of rush seats available on a first come, first served basis start­ ing at 7 p.m. for evening performances and 12 noon for matinees.
