The wedding will take place at 3 p.m. at Blyth United Church on October 4, 1986. Local woman charged An Auburn-area woman plead­ ed guilty to a charge of theft when she appeared in Exeter District Court Sept. 2, but was not sentenced pending the investiga­ tion of two other charges being sent down from the Listowel police. Exeter Chief of Police Larry Hardy said Monday that Dianne MacDonald of RR 1, Auburn appeared to face a charge, laid last May, of stealing an amplifier and a set of phono plugs from McLean’s Home Hardware in Exeter May 16. Evidence revealed that the woman went to the cashier and paid only for a saw blade, and a subsequent investigation revealed the plugs in her purse and the amplifier in her vehicle. Chief Hardy said that her lawyer said she was facing similar charges in Listowel. Ms. MacDonald will appear in Exeter Court, October 14 for sentencing. Blyth-area resident Jerry Mc­ Donnell, a teacher in the F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wing- f ~> Tpeopie around ham, has been appointed TV Ontario Southwestern Regional Councillor. As one of 15 members of the Southwestern Council, he will represent the interests of the Blyth area to TVOntario. ‘ * My goal is to represent my area to TVOntario and promote the educational network, ’ ’ he says. McDonnell is active with the Ontario Secondary School Teach­ ers’ Federationand the Ontario and Canadian School Library associations, and is a book review­ er for the Canadian Book Review Annual. He also serves as a University of Western Ontario student advisor, and is a treasurer for the Exeter and District Heri­ tage Foundation. “Asateacher familiar with TVO, I want to get the network to our rural areas because of its educational advantages.” McDonnell has been appointed by TVO’s Board of Directors for a term of three years. He is one of 75 regional councillors throughout the province who meet regularly to advise the educational television network on the best ways to serve the needs of their region. The councillors, all volunteers, are also active in creating awareness in their communities of the many programs and services available from TVOntario. Susan Howson was the organist in Blyth United Church on Sunday, September 7. She also sang two solos, “Jesus” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mr. Bauman told the children a Ladies Auxiliary welcomes new member story about “Mean Marnie and Kind Ken”. Joan Clark was the children’s leader for the day. Mary Hoonard, Elva Brown, Sharon Brown and Murray Musty were the ushers. Mr. and Mrs. Bill DeJong of Listowel visited on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daer. Mr. and Mrs. Milford Doerr of Stratford visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daer and attended the threshermen’s reunion. Mr. and Mrs. James Boyce of Bayfield visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daer and attended the threshermen’s reunion. The Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 420, met on September 1 for their first fall meeting after their summer break. President Janice Henry called the meeting to order. She then got down to business as there were numerous items to go over after the summer holidays. Applications for new member­ ships were read and Agnes Marks and Mabel Riley were sworn in and later welcomed to the Auxiliary. Roll call was then taken with 20 members present. Secretary Mil­ dred Ament read the minutes of the last meetings, the regular meeting held in June and executive meeting held throughout the summer. Coming up on the agenda for this month are: September 11, Theatre Catering; September 13-16, con­ vention; September 20, darts to be held in Goderich; September 27, •euchre to be held in Blyth. The meeting was adjourned and lunch was served. The next meeting will be October 6.
