Auburn WMS holds meeting at Daer home The August meeting of the Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. Roy Daer. The president Martha Daer gave the call to worship and welcomed all present. The devotional period was led by Mrs. Lillian Leather­ land. The scripture portion was from Acts 9, verses 36 to43 and was read alternately. The meditation was on Dorcas “a woman full of good works.” Mrs. Taylor of Hensail gave the Study on Time and the many uses of it. The September meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Don Cartwright September 9 at 8:00 p.m. How time flies- Achievement night for the Quest For Success 4H club was held at the Auburn United Church, Wednesday night. Graduating members of the club are: Glenyce McClinchey, Angela Schneider, Lisa Duizer, Astrid Van Eeden and Annette Losereit. I uburn |C— O C — ZD Mrs. Mildred LawlorV 526-7589__________________ Chamney reunion held at Wawanosh The second annual Chamney reunion of the descendants of the late Robert Chamney and Clara Chamney was held at the East Wawanosh Conservation Park on August 9 beginning with a pot luck lunch at noon. Happy birthday was sung to Margaret Chamney of Windsor whose birthday was that day. Games and races were held for the children and also a scavenger hunt. The person with the most of their immediate family present was Mrs. Verna Doerr of Niagara Falls. Coming the farthest was Robin Hayden and family from Fort McMurray, Alberta. The youngest girl was Kathryn Chamney of Ottawa. Youngest boy was Justin Chamney of Auburn. Oldest per­ son was Margaret Chamney of Windsor. Pictures were shown from last years reunion and lots of remini­ scing done. Supper was at the park and then to the Auburn Hall for cards and record hop to the Star Spinners. Happy Birthday was sung to Stuart Chamney whose birthday is near the end of August and everyone enjoyed birthday cake. Seventy-five descendants were present from Toronto, Niagara Falls, Trenton, Windsor, Ottawa, Goderich, Belgrave, Port Elgin, London, Burlington, Fort McMur­ ray Alberta, Oklahoma, U.S.A, and Auburn. News briefs Hope Chapel Cemetery service will be held August 24 at 3 p.m. Pastor Carne will be the minister in charge of the service. Happy birthday to Mrs. E. Straughan on the occasion of her 96th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin, Mrs. Bonnie Armour and Mrs. Wm. Straughan, spent Sunday at Kinc­ ardine for a picnic with other family members. Sorry to report that Betty Marsh is a patient in Alexandra Marine and General hospital. She had surgery last week. We wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young of Stratford and Craig Ritchie of Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. James Henry of Clawson, Michigan visit­ ed with Ellen Johnston and Laura Phillips recently. Call to Worship, prayers and life and work of the church were given and several hymns were sung. Mrs. Gordon Gross and daughter Anita gave a piano instrumental “Climb Every Mountain”. After the children’s hymn and time for children and they went to Sunday School Rooms with Kevin Webster and Anita Gross in charge. The minister chose for his sermon, “The doubts we have”. Offering was received by Roger Cunningham and Larry Plaetzer. The service closed with the congregational benediction. 50 youngsters part of Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School is over at Knox United Church in Auburn. Itwasaverypleasantweekof Bible lessons, sports, music and crafts. Fifty young people from ages 9 to 13 took part in these activities. The teachers for the classes were: nursery, Angela Millian and Glenyce Young; kin­ dergarten, Debbie Cunningham and Lori Armstrong; primary, Tammy Shuttleworth and Wendy Ruegger; middler, Helen Lapp and Anita Gross; junior, Joyce Dick­ son; crafts, Leona Cunningham; music, Bernice Gross; opening program, Mr. Gary Shuttleworth. Linda Cunningham, organizer of the event, would like to thank all who helped or sent their children. Dr. McGregor acting MOH A Wingham doctor has been appointed acting medical officer of health tor Huron County. Dr. James McGregor will as­ sume the position until a replace­ ment is appointed to succeed Dr. Harry Cieslar who resigned in June. The Huron County Board of Health expects to fill the position by the end of August.
