home from her stay in hospital. We
all wish her a speedy recovery.
The response was great about
the robins. Mrs. Tom Bernard, RR
4, Brussels was the first to phone.
last Wednesday saying they had a
whole flock of robins on their back
lawn. Mrs. Eric Alcock also saw a
robin on their lawn. John Penning-
ton saw robins and a red -winged
blackbird. My daughter, son and
husband have also seen them and
killdeers were spotted at McDon-
ald Lumber. Saturday Gert Kell-
ington saw wild geese flying over.
Wednesday was a mixed up day
for our feathered friends to arrive,
first rain then snow with tempera-
tures dropping. But every year
they always seem to get a little of
that white stuff on them. Dare we
hope spring has sprung.
Debbie Higgins and John Oliver

Ward, Jeff and Julie in St. Mary's
on Saturday.
As next week is Easter we hope
you will let us know all your

Melville Guild
celebrates Easter
The Easter meeting of Melville
Presbyterian Women's Guild was
held on March 18 in the church
parlour with 19 members present.
Eluned McNair in charge of
devotions opened with several
Easter poems. Easter hymns were
sung with Helen Elliott at the
piano. Rosemarie Bishop led in
prayer and scripture was read from
St. Luke chapter 22 verses 39 - 53.
The Easter message entitled
"Good or Grim" delivered by
Isabel Adams asked the question,
Why is the day of Jesus' crucifixion
called "Good" Friday? It is
believed to be a corruption of
"God's" Friday and it could be
called Good because it is so quickly
followed by the joy of Easter
Sunday. In most churches sad
services of remembrance are held
at this time of year when the story
of Jesus' mock trial and journey to
Calvary are narrated followed by
His rising three days later.
Kathleen Semple took charge of
the business. Plans to cater to a
60th anniversary dinner and Open
House were discussed. May 28 was
chosen as the date for the annual
May Time Supper.
Hot cross buns spread with jam
and cheese were served by the
committee: Eluned McNair, Isabel
Adams and Rosemarie Bishop.
