DECEMBER 15 1976 •'Busy with s'..orts at Madill. Midget Boys Basketball n Dec. 2, the midget boys started the season off with a 38-29 victory over Norwell. All. 15 players played, well in this heir first game. f the boys keep working and Improving we can look forward to a good season. On Dec, 7, the midget boys lost Exeter 34-20. After a very poor rt, they managed to stay with opposition but were unable to ch up. Let's hope .their next game is a ner. Junior Boys Basketball On Dec. 2, the junior boys lost to Norwell 33-20. The game was much closer than , the score indicates. Our boys ran into foul trouble early in the second half after leading 12-8 at halftime. Tom Henderson fouled out early in the second half and Steve Burke went to the showers late in the game. Norwell then took over and never looked back. Steve Burke led Madill's scoring with 7 points and Brian Deitner played a good offensive game. Tom 'Henderson dominated rebound- ing during the first half. Other members of the team include Paul Foxton, Ron John- ston, Mike Beattie, Eric Good, Rob Demaray, Brent Johnston and Rick Scammel. On Dec. 7, South Huron, Exeter beat our junior team 31.21. Our boys played well against a ore experienced Exeter squad d would have done much-better d some of their shots found the op. Leading scorers were Tom enderson with 9 k points and teve Burke with 8 points. Student Council News The fast approach of Christmas means the fast approach„, of our annual Christmas assembly. This is the season of giving, so if you are asked to give, some. of your 'lime to help out in any way, whether it's decorating The tree in the main hall or participating in the assembly, please do so. Only with your help can the assembly be a great success. — Eleanor Johnstone. Craft Club This week, the spotlight is on the Craft Chill. Under the super— vision of Miss Hardie, this, group meets every Wednesday night, in ctivity Period. There are about 15 to 20 members, with Doreen aylor as president, and Donelda Lamont as secretary. The purpOse of this club is to learn more about many crafts, both traditional and contemporary. A chance is provided for the members to become skilled in working goose these crafts, The memberschoose the crafts they Wish to "explore throughout the course of the year. The crafts already discussed • this year have ranged from macrame and embroidery to candlemaking. In the near future, 'orking with clay to make ornaments and- beadwork is on I.
