Sells tickets on afghan
A pleasant evening was spent
in the United Church basement
when the Majestic Women's.
Institute entertained other
institutes as their guests, Mrs,
Doris McCall, President, opened
the meeting with a poem,
"Autumn said Farewell today".
A thank you note was read from
Beth Hoover and a letter from
Miss Helen McKercher. •
Achievement Day is to be held
at Ethel, November 20.
An afghan made by Mrs. Peggy
Cudmore was on display and
tickets sold . Anyone wa nting a
ticket see an Institute member.
The next meeting will be held
in the Library, D ek. 8 at 12:30. A
pot luck dinner will be served
Members are asked to bring their
own dishes and silver.
There will be a donation for
Christmas Boxes and a gift
exchange for every member to be
not more than $1.50 .

The roll call, an old time
weather superstition, was
answered by 19 members and 34
visitors. Mrs. Leona Armstrong
introduced the entertainers, Joan
Mair, Peggy Gibson, Joan
Huether and Elizabeth Exel. Mrs.
Joanne King was pianist. They
contributed two numbers, these
were very much enjoyed. Leona
thanked the girls and' presented
each with a gift.
DOrothy SMfler then dealt
with the motto "Did you know
that some parts of plants and
fruits are poisonous."
Mrs. Doris McCall introduced
the speaker. Mrs. Abner Martin,
West Montrose showed and
described the pictures of her
agriculture tour of Ch in a which
was conducted by Clare Burt . A.
great deal Was learned about
China. •
Mrs. ' Doris McCall thanked
Mrs. Martin and all who had
taken part.
The lunch was served
smorgasbord style by Alberta
Smith, Marie McCutcheon,
Peggy Cudmore, Mabel Smith,
Wilma Hemingway, Ida' Evans,
Alma ,Watson, Doris McCall,
Glenna Stephens, Ruby Stiess,
Leona Armstrong and Jennie
Turnbull.
