In spite of the cold and the
snow a good number of Brussels
and area residents gathered .at
the Cenotaph on Remembrance
Day to honor the War Dead.
Legion members with, the
wreath bearers, the Legion
Ladies' Auxiliary and color
party, together with the. Legion
Pipe Band and those from the
area in attendance met at 10:30
a.m. for the Cenotaph Servicew.
Rev. E. Baker, Legion. Padre,
opened the service with the-
Invocation Prayer folloWed by "6
Canada". He also gave the
Scripture Reading. The Laying
of wreaths and placing of poppies
preceded the LaMent and the two
minutes of silence that brought
vivid memories of loved ones lost
to those who had gathered there
to honor them.
At the close of the Cenotaph
Service the Legion Party ; led by
the Legion Pipe Band, marched to
Melvillve Presbyterian Church for
service at 11:15 A,M.
Officiating clergy for the
service were Rev. Kenneth Innes
(Host Minister), Rev. Edward
Baker of Duff's United Church,
Walton and Rev. John Roberts of
Knox United Church, Belgrave,
who gave the Remembrance Day
message.
Special music was provided by
Piper Jim McLean "Amazing
Grace", Violinist Kenneth Imes.
