BOMID ••• The market at Brussels Stock- yards Friday was active on the better, quality cattle and pigs. Combine music heard Have you ever heard "Combine Music" I heard it all evening and more, And it made me forget I was lonely As I had never forgotten before, The big combines singing a love song As no singer could ever sing And the beans as they entered the truck box Had such a melodious ring, I longed to go close to watch them But I knew I'd just be in the way So here in my room I'll keep watching And hope many hours they stay. Big trucks come hr"re to be filled, now And the full ones travel on • My lonely heart sings, as each bean rings As the combines keep singing their song. If only I could go closer What a dream come true it would be but I'll stay here by my window, What a wonderful sight to see - "Dear God" if to-night "You" are watching Watch close, let not one come to harm, , As the combines they sing; and the beans, how they ring, Out here on the Ryan's farm. It is the hope of the Legion to contact every veteran, every ex-service person and-or spouse or dependent in Canada to make certain all are aware of their rights under the Veteran's Charter. This major effort will call for thousands of Legion members across Canada to volunteer to serve as campaign chairmen, team captains and home visitors, to man telephones and information desks, and to carry out a variety of other tasks, which will make possible contact with those who need our help, but who are unaware that they are entitled to certain benefits. the general public too, will become very much aware Of Operation Service through the media. It will consequently present a golden opportunity to Legion branches to demonstrate to the communities in which they are located, the praCtical application of the much quoted statement in the Legion. Ritual to the effect that, Their Sacrifice will ever inspire Us to labour on to the end, that those who survive and need our aid, may be assured of assistance. The task in this operation is: 1: To assure that all persons who may be eligible for benefits are acquainted with their rights in this regard. 2, To direct all queries for counselling or benefits to the service officer at branch or Command So if a Legion member calls, please welcome him, He isn't selling anything, but rather he IS trying to help people and he has an enormous task to do. Thank you. C. IvieNEIL CHAIRMAN' BRAN CA 218 Brussels itgaNkann!liMMIMakia OCTOBER 6, 1976
