Wood has been -vice Special Savings Accounts principal gor 9 years. This is the first year Mr. Wood has not taught grade 13 physics. Other subjects he hap taught in the past areMath and Science. Mr. Wood trained at Guelph University for four years and at the TEachers - college in Toronto for 1 year. After he graduated he.worked for one year for the government; at the School of Agriculture in Ridgetown. During his year at Ridgetown he had to teach a few classes as part of his job. He decided at this time that teaching was what he really wanted to do. Mr. Wood's hometown is! Londesboto and he attended High School at Clinton. Outside his busy schedule Mr, Wood enjoys photography, badminton, to ,ble tennis, and hockey. When asked what his favourite colour was Mr. Wood thought for awhile and then replied, "Green, maybe ..at least that has been the colour of my last three ears," Mr. Wood enjoys any foods. 'On Monday nights at 9:00 o'clock Mr Wood relaxes with his favourite magazine, popular science, sitting in front of the T.V, waiting in anticipation to watch "All in the Family", while his Beagle brings his slippers. Now that's living! Mr. Wood has a family of four. Their names and grades are as follows: Joanne, Gr. 10; Janet Gr. 9; Karen Gr. 7; and Doug. Gr. 4. Mr. Wood feels that he was put on this earth to be of some help or good to the people now and later in life. His job certainly fulfills his philosophy. - Mr. Wood said he thinks we have a good school but he is prejudiced. "The reason for this statement," he said, the fact that Madill is an old-fashioned school. Students do what is expected of them. On the whole, students ' Show better manners and are better educated because of the rigid system." He also commented that school spirit has improved this year because we have a good student council to encourage it. I asked Mr. Wood what he thought about the cut-back of the budget in education as well as in other walks of life. Mr. Wood said "We.have only seen the tip of the iceberg and we can expect more. Teachers are going to be expected to carry a heavier load and there will be shortages experienced everywhere." It is rather amusing being a vice principal I found out. Mr. Wood said that when he calls parents at lunchtime to see if their child is sick, or whatever, he quite often is greeted by "Roast Beef" or "'Soup and "Sandwiches" ' . Unfortunately they didn't win a dinner. The year that Lucknow High School closed down, and the students came to, Madill also proved to be a very interesting year because half of the student body had never attended Madill before. There was rearranging and confusion for awhile but all was ironed out. Mr. Wood has a tremendous responsibility' as vice principal. Sometimes the rules and regulations seem unreasonable and harsh but stop a minute and consider what you would do in his shoes. Probably the same.
