Three' hockey teams travelled
out of town on Monday night to
play the first game of their last
series in the consolation round.
The Atoms and Bantams played
in Lucknow. The Atoms picked up
a 6-3 win. Scoring for the home
team was Kevin Wheeler 2,
Richard Haveman, Danny
Achilles, Doug Shaw, Brian
Wheeler one each. Assists went
to Danny Achilles.
The Bantams also picked up a
win, defeating Lucknow 6-2. Scott
Wheeler led the scoring with 3
goals. Doug Cousins, Brian Scott
and Kevin Semple scored one
each. Assists went to Bill Smith,
Paul Bragg, Scott Wheeler and
Kevin Semple
The Peewees were in Mildmay
the same nightfor their third
game of the series. Mildmay had
defeated the home team two
games straight before the winter
break. Brussels had to win to stay
in and managed a 3-1 win.
Goal scorers were Steve
Knight, Mike Watson and Todd
Wheeler. Assists went to Kevin
Dectner, Ken Cousins, Terry
McCutcheon and. Steve Knight.
On Wednesday night -the
Peewees returned to Brussels
where the home team came back
to life and defeated Mildmay 9-5.
Scorers were Brian Tenpas 2
goals, Ken Higgins 2, Terry
McCutcheon 2, Ken Cousins,
Mike Watson, Todd Wheeler one
each. Assists went to Brian
Tenpas, Ken Cousins, Terry
McCutcheon, Mike Watson,
Kevin Oectner, Stewart Cardiff,
Ken Higgins.
The Bantams, played their
second game at home on
Wednesday night, picking up a
6-1 win. Scoring for Brussels was
Doug Cousins with 3 goals, Scott
Wheeler 2, Darwin McCutcheon
1. Assists went to Bill Smith,
Brian Deitner, Doug Causing,
Darwin McCutcheon, Scott
Wheeler.
On Friday night the Peewees
travelled to Mildmay for the fifth
and deciding game of the series.
At the end of the first period
Mildmay was leading 2-0.
Brussels came back to score 6
unansered goals to win the game
6-2, and the consolation series.

The Wingham Figure Skating
Club placed fifth out of more than
132 entries at the Western
Ontario Section Winter Invita-
tional Competition held recently.
Carol Wheeleref Brussels placed
second in the fourth test ladies
and first in ladies' silver
interpretive.
More than 1100 individuals
were entered in the competition
from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and
across Ontario. Other skaters
from the local club participating
were: Cheryl Beattie, Maureen
Beattie, Cheryl Gavreluk, Kevin
Tenpas one each. .Assists went to
Ken cousins, Brian Tenpas, Terry
McCutcheon, Ken Higgins, Todd
Wheeler, Stewart Cardiff.
- The Atoms were at home on
Friday night to the visiting
Lucknow team. The final score
was Brussels 7-Lucknow 4, giving
the home team the series in three
straight wins. Goal scorers were
Danny Achilles 2, Dean Rutledge
2, Paul Machan, Robbie Cardiff
and Brian Wheeler one each.
Assists went to Robbie Cardiff,
Danny Achilles, Paul Machan,
Kevin Wheeler, Peter Bennett.
The Bantam team picked up
their third straight win over the
Lucknow team on Saturday night,
to win their consolation round
also. The final score read
Brussels 4 Lucknow 1. Goal
scoring was shared by Doug
Cousins and Scott, and Paul.
Bragg.
The Atom team participated in
the annual Mildmay tournament
on Saturday. The first game of the
day was against Belgrave when'
they defeated 10-0. Robbie
Cardiff led the Brussels attack
with 4 goals, Richard Haveman 3,
Brian Wheeler 2, Darrin Watts 1.
Assists went to Kevin Wheeler,
Brian Wheeler, Paul Machan,
Darrin Watts, Richard Haveman.
In their second game of the
day, the Brussels squad defeated
Paisley 4-0. Scoring for Brussels
was Darrin Watts 2, Robbie
Cardiff, Murray Pipe one each.
Assists went to Pual ,Machan,
Richard Haveman, Peter Bennett,
Darrin Watts and Brian Wheeler.
.In the championship game
against Lions Head they scored
a 7-1 win. Scoring for the home
team was Brian Wheeler 2, Dean
Rutledge 2, Dayrin Watts, Danny
Achilles, Doug Shaw one each.

who were successful in
completing the season as
Consolation Champions of the
W.O.A.A. Some excellent hockey
was played this season by our
local boys which is represented by
the number of trophies displayed
in the tropy case at this time.

and April Moore. The club had 43
overall points.
Events from the preliminary
level to fourth test level, in
singles, preliminary to senior
bronze dance and interpretive
events were held, Due to the
number of entries, events were
scheduled in flights with the top
two skaters (four couples in
dance) entering a• final event.
Points were given for skaters
placing in the top five, both in the
initial and final events.

program by some of the younger
members of the Sunday School.

tap-dance with her mother as
accompanist.
