Ladies win March cur
LEARNING TO FLY — Pictured are' some members
of the Private Pilot Ground School Course, which was
taught this winter as,,a night school course by. Jim
'Armstrong in the Brussels Public School. This course
consisted of 24 two hour sessions, and entitles those
who complete it to write the Ministry of Transport
Private Pilot Exam. The topics studied were Air

The March meeting of the
Brussels Horticultural Society
was held in the Public Library
recently with 22 members and 7
guests presesnt. Mrs. F. Dunk,
the president, opened the
meeting with 0 Canada, Roll Call,
Wear something green or tell a
joke, was well answered.
The club agreed to host the
1977 district Annual if Auburn is
unable to. Delegates to this year's
convention at Seaforth •will be
Mrs. A. McCall, Mrs. F. Dunk,
Mrs. B. Hemingway and Mrs, L.
McCutcheon.
Several members said they
would try their hand at writing on
gardening for the Owen Sound
times.
Mr.A. Knight read the news
letter and Mrs. • Ivan Campbell
favored with 'several Irish
selections. Prizes will be given at
the rose show.
Mrs. A. Crocker gave a talk and
illustrations on growing plants
under lights. She told 'of the
advantages and disadvantages of
red, blue and white lighting, also
about humidity, ventilation and
the height of lights from plants.
Mrs.F. Dunk thanked her and
presented gift. Mrs. S. Alexander
won the door prize. Lunch was
served by Mrs. B. Hemingway,
Mrs. C. Hemingway, Mrs. Wm.
Miller and Mrs. J. Uniac,
Walton
Mrs. Roy Bennett is visiting
this week with Mr. and Mrs. Les
Rutledge in Streetsville.
