As a final reply to the Brussels
Minor Hockey Association, I feel
there are some points which
should be made clear,
First the situation with the 18
Bantams. Sure it would mean 2
boys would have to sit out, but
only if each and every night there
was a game all 19 were able to
attend. Don't forget sicknesses,
injuries, exams and suspensions
can come into effect. Right now
there are 2 bantams suspended
indefinitely, which means the
child in question could be dressed
and not forcing any eligible player
to sit out, If each Bantam had to
work to make the team and not be
guaranteed a position right away
do you not agree Brussels would
have a better team.
I'm sure every parent and
coach wants the best showing
our town can put forth. Other
towns around have this selection
of players for a travelling team, as
do our younger teams. If the
players aren't putting their most
effort into the sport, should they
be assured a spot over someone
not as good as him, but who tries
his best.
I am saying too often a child
will slacken off because they
don't have to worry about his spot
being challenged for. Right here
the coaches, when a tight -situa-
tion arises, only uses his most
effective players, be it 6,8,10, or
whatever number, everyone does-
n't get played all of the time, if
the one's not getting played work
TURKEY ALFREDO
1 cup all-purpose flour
V3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon baking powd6r
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
3/4 cup milk
1 , beaten ' egg
12 slices cooked turkey .
'' cup oil
'/4 cup chopped onion
'/4 cup butter
'/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
2 cups chicken bouillon
1/2 cup dry white wine
4 cups cooked noodles
(8 ounces: uncooked)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh
parsley
Combine 1 cup flour, cheese,
baking powder and seasonings.
Add milk to egg and stir into flour
mixture. Dip turkey slices in
batter; fry in oil until golden
hard to better themselves, then
they'll make this group of players
Should not this child be allowed
to work his hardest to make a spot
just as the others should?
Who are the BMHA kidding
but themselves when they say the
child in question can't play. He'd
help the team either by playing
himself or at least making the
others play that much harder to
beat him out of the spot.
Moving to the Midget situation
the boy who was referred to as
never having played goal before,
has infact played for a couple
different teams. If the writer last
week will check she will find th is
to be true.
Sure the Midgets needed anot-
her goalie, but in following with
the second year ruling there is a
2nd• year Bantam goalie why not
use him and stay with the ruling.
That is if this ruling must be. But
the defensive reasoning you use
is the younger boy is better. Well
the boy , who isn't allowed to
advance may be better and more
physically able to play up than
some second year players.
Should not the coaches and
boys on the teams involved be.
allowed to use their own judge-
ment on such issues, which effect
,their own games.
After all it is the boys who arc
on the team and not the executive
and parents. If the boys in
question are accepted by the
players, as obviously they would
(about 1 Minute each side); keep
warm. Saute onion in butter until
transparent. Stir in 1/4 cup flour
and seasonings; then blend in
bouillon and wine.' Cook and stir
until smooth and thick. Pour over
noodles, top with turkey slices -
and sprinkle with parsley. 6
servings, •
Served over 'noodles, this dish will
surely please holiday conipany .

Everyone Welcome
be, why can't the executive and
all of the parents stay out of it and
let every child move at his own
pace.
There seems little reason for
any child to work hard to get
ahead,and develop his skill when
he is continually running into
doors being locked by uncaring
adults.
The letter last week said who
ever wrote the first letter never
does anything for minor hockey. I
know a couple of men who were
part of BMHA when if first
formed. They will attest to the
fact that there are rules that were
made that have as yet to be
observed.
Can you expect any man with
any values to remain with an
organization which continues
doing things which he knows
should not be allowed or which
wouldn't be allowed if it were run
as a business as it should be.
After all it runs off registrations
and public donations, including
town and township donations.
This executive follows certain
rules from the CAHA Guide for
Minor Hockey Administration.
Yet they ignore rules in the book
su ch as follows "each boy
'should' be able to have the
opportunity to play to his capabi-
lity. A player's capability can
move upward only if he is taxed to
stand on his mental and physical
tip toes". Certain men on the
executive are terribly blind when
it comes to some sentences in this
book. •
To Mrs. Wheeler and other
parents who agree with her. I'm
sure you. would want your son(s)
to be given the chance to advance
if at ail possible. In Mrs.
Wheeler's case she is quite happy
with the ruling because her son is
2nd year Bantam and therefore
allowed to- move up to Midget.
