JOSEPHINE MARKS Mrs. Josephine Marks, 70, wife of the late Russel Marks of Walton died in the Seaforth Community Hospital on Sunday December 7. She was the former Josephine Mann, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Mann. i She was predeceased by her 1 1 'husband in March 1967. t 1 She is survived by one daugh- 'I ter, Viola, Mrs. Ralph Traviss and ' ' li two sons Lawrence of Exeter and Nelson of Walton, four grandchil- 1 I dren and one great grandchild, 1 sisters Mrs. Emma Bird and Mrs. 1 Sam Barr• also survive. 1 - The Funeral service was held i Wednesday December 10 at 2 p.m. from the M.L. MARGARET RINTOUL Mrs. Margaret Rintoul, 67, rife of the late Chester Rintoul of trussels, of 53 West William ;treet, died Wednesday, i/ecember 3 at Seaforth :ommunity Hospital after a mgthy illness. The former Margaret Lauretta 'ollard, she was the daughter of dward James Pollard of IruSsels and the late Margaret 'ollard. She was predeceased by er husband and one sister, :sther Mrs. L. Braddick of 'ancouver. She was born in Grey bwnship, June 8, 1908 and carried Chester Wilfred Rintoul 4, 1928 and resided in lorris Township until 1951 when ley moved to Galt. Here she worked in the it afeteria of South Waterloo teniorial Hospital until she !tired. She then moved to 11 eaforth in 1970. She was a I ierriber of First Presbyterian 11 . hurcn. Pallbearers Were, John Pipe, nephew, of Bruskls; Jack Coultes, nephew, of Blyth; Lloyd Scott of Simcoe; Ross Boettger and Ernest Mount of Galt Cambridge and George Hays of Seaforth. MRS. JERRY BURKE Violet Isabel (Anderson) Burke died at her home in Orangeville on December 5. She had a sudden heart attack after many years of ill health at age 71 Born in North Dakota, she was a daughter of James Anderson. and Mary Sproat. Her husband who she married in 1928 in Morris Twp. , died Nov. 30. ' Three brothers, Alec, Jack and Earl Anderson , all of Belgrave, also predeceased her. One sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen McArter of Brussels survives. Mrs. Burke was a nurse who graduated from Stratford General Hospital and nursed in Toronto, Midland and Orangeville.She was a member of Westminster United Church, Orangeville. Rev. R. Scrivens `officiated at funeral services on. December 8 and intermeht followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Orangeville. Pallbearers were' Mickey MacDonald, Albert Maddocks, Stewart Kennedy, all of Orangeville and nephews, Doug St. Denis, Orillia; Keith Anderson, Rexdale and Ross Anderson, Belgrave. ALBERT JOHN BURKE Funeral services were held Dec. 2 in Orangeville for Jerry Burke, 77, who died in Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville, on Nov. 30 following a Icing illness. He was a retired engineer who worked for 52 years with CPR and retired in 1963. He was born in Maisson and married the former Violet Anderson in Morris Twp. in 1928. Mrs. Burke died December 5. On December 10th, the Kinder- garten children in Mrs. Underwood's class and Mrs. Doubleday's class went to London. They went to the Wellington Street Mall to meet Santa Claus. They also went to see the decorated store windows. at Simpsons. Then they. saw the decorated trees at. Victoria. Park. There were at least 16 parents accompanying them on the trip. On December 11th Mrs. MacRae's class andMrs. Underwood's other Kindergarten Class went on the same trip. They left at 9:00 a.m. and were expected to arrive back at the school at 3:20 p.m. We all think that this trip gave them. the Christmas spirit. Ben Schuitema Christmas Assembly Assembliles are held at different times in the school year and one is the Christmas Assembly. The class who is performing this assembly is Mr. Farnall's. They are going to give quite a performance. Everyone in the class will take part in presenting skits, poems, carols and plays which will put people in the Christmas spirit. Gary Douglas Volleyball After hard practising, our boys' volleyball teamwill play last years boys who were on the volleyball team. This contest will be on Dec. 11, and it should determine who is the best. On Dec. 12 the girls' volleyball -team will go to Wingham High School to play their junior girls' volleyball team. We wish them luck as they meet these contestants and hope that they _will show the Howick Central School Spirit. Marlin Good
