Traffic accidents up in Huron in '74, Brussels has 20

communications showed that in
1974, accidents were on the
increase in Huron County's

co-Operative in 1962, was elected
a Director in 1967 and has been
President sicne 1973.

President Mel Proud said that
Gay Lea Foods Co-operative is an
indication of what producers can
accomplish by joining together to
process and market their produce
on a co-Operative basis. Sales •
have increased nearly 40% over
the previous year and this
increase was attributable to
greater volume through the:co-
operative's plants as well as
inflated dollars, he said. Mr.
Proud commented that pm, ducer
interest continued at • a high level
and that membership had
increased to 3,633 member
shareholders.
T. E. Brady, Executive Vice-
President and General manager,
announced an increase in sales
from $52 million to $72 million
and net earnings of $1 million
compared with $854,000 in 1974.

In 1974, the number of
collisions in the village of Bayfield
was six. Out of these six
collisions, four of thein involved
personal injury, in which five

where nine persons were injured.
Six of the -20 accidents also
involved property damages.
Fifty-nine accidents occurred in
the town of Clinton last year.
Twelve of these involved personal
injuries, in which 19 persons wee
were injured, and 47 involved
property damage.
In the town of Exeter, where
there were 74 collisions, there
were 61 accidents involving
property damage. Out of the 74,
13 involved personal injury,
where 15 people were injured.
One hundred and ten collisions
occurred in the town of Goderich.
Eighty-four of these involved
property damage, and 26 involved
personal injury where 38 people
were hurt.
In the village of Hensall, there
were eight collisions, in which
two involved personal injury
where five people were injured.
Six of these accidents also
involved property damage.
Out of 32 accidents in the town
of Seaforth, 11 had personal
injury in which 29 people were
injured. Twenty-one of those
accidents also involved proper
damages.
In the town of Wingham, whe
there were 51 accidents, only fo
had personal injury, whi,

accidents-, 42 had proper
damages.
In the village of Zurich, thei
were just three collisions la
year, all resulting in proper
damage. There were no injurie
however.
Total accidents in 1974 in di
province of Ontario were 146,33;
with 520 . of these accident
proving fatal, killing 581 person,
Forty-five thousand, six hundre
and three of these involve
personal injury, where 63,91
people were injured and 100,21
involved property damage.

re-elects president
The first Select Sale held by
Perth County Hosltein Breeders
Club at Carson's Auction Sale
Barn, Listowel, in November
brought a total of $81,870 for 49
head, an average of $1,671.
The top priced animal was
Mardonholm Empress Anna, a
June 1972 heifer classified Very
Good. She was purchased by Oak
Ridges Farms Ltd., Oak Ridges,
Ontario who paid $15,300 to
consignor D.M.Siirnpson, St.
Marys. Anna was sired by the
Excellent and Class Extra sire
Downalane Reflection Emperor.
She has done well at the shows
this season, taking first prize as a
three-year-old at Perth black and
White Day and going on to win
the Grand ChampionShip. At the
Western Ontario Championship
Show at London she was 2nd in
class and was Resesrve Grand
Champion female.
