Candlelight at UCW Christmas party
The Christmas Carol. "lt came
upon a. . Midnight Clear" was
sung, Mrs. Bob McDonald read
the scripture from Luke 2: verses
8-20 and Matthew 2: verses 1712.
The carol. "0 little town of
Bethlehem" was sung,
The Christmas story was pre-
sented by Barb Fritz and Linda
McDonald, using a Candle light-
ing service to effectively portray
it. "0 Come All Ye Faithful" was
sung. Prayer closed the devotions
Mrs. Alvin McDonald chaired
very short business period.
Minutes were react by Mrs. Don
McDonald. There were 10 mem-
bers and one guests present.
There was a brief discussion on
Christmas Carols were played
as the music prelude by the
organist,. Mrs. I. Wilbec on
Sunday morning at Duff's United
Church. Several other Carols
were sung /during the service.
Rev. Ed Baker spoke on his
sermon, "Who, me? Sought
after?" The choir Anthem was
"Advent Hymn". The offering
Carols sung at Duff's
was.received by Murray Houston.

The flowers in the' church we're
placed in memory of the families
of the late Mrs. R. Marks and
Miss Teenic Dennis.
The Sunday School Concert at
Duff's Walton will be held
Monday December 22, at 8p.m.
Institute Sponsors Euchre •
The last euchre till the New
Year was held in the community
hall on Friday, December 12th
with 11 tables in play. Prize
Winners were high lady. Mrs. E.
Stevens, second high lady. Mrs,
Lloyd Walker. low lady, Mrs. C.
McCutcheon. High man. Gordon
Murray, second high man. Tor-
rence Dllndati, low Man, Rollie
Achilles. Winner of Christmas
Cake draw, Laverne' Godkin. Prior
to lunch, Mrs. N. McGavin led in
a sing-song of Christmas Carols,
accompanied at the, piano by Mrs.
Bill Humphries,
the fowl supper. The hostesses in charge of the
evening were; Mrs.. A. McCall,
Mrs, B. Humphries, Mrs. N.
McGavin and, Mrs. 1, Godkin. The
next euchre will be decided at the
regular Institute meeting this
week.

Miss Dianne Fraser nurse-in-
training at St. Joseph's Hospital
London spent the weekend at the
home of her parents. Mr. .and
Mrs. Douglas Fraser.
.Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mitchell.
of Listowel visited on Sunday with
his parents. Mr. and Mrs. E.
Mission Band
collects , boxes
The Call to Worship was given
by Jeanne McDonald at the
December meeting of the Mission
Band on Sunday morning. Christ-
mas Carols were sung during the
meeting with Laura Dennis as
pianist. The Lamb's Christmas
Story was given. Laura Dennis
read the, scripture, then Candle
Lighting depicting Jesus birth,
tree gifts and love.
Mrs. Martin Hackwell gave a
reading, "The .Christinas Spirit"
followed by Nanci Bennett lead-
ing in prayer. A poem, "The
Pig's Christmas" was read. Peter
Bennett gave the secretary's
report followed by the treasurer's
report by Cathy McGavin.
The mite boxes Were collected
and dedicated by Jeanne
McDonald. The good attendance
of children enjoyed a Christmas
sing-swig led by Marie McGavin
before they went to their classes.
Recreation
plans dance
The committee of the Walton
Recreation- had a meeting on
Thursday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stiffler. In the
business period it was decided to
have a dance, scheduled for
February 5th, plans were made to
have a fifty-fifty draw. Each
member to sell tickets with profits
to go to the park improvements.
