A group of Walton Community residents
feel that consideration should be given to a
number of necessary community projects and
their priorities, eg. lights for the ball park,
new roof for the Community Hall, etc.
To this end, we hope that the Walton
Recreation committee, the Walton Hall
Board, representatives from Morris,
McKillop and Grey Townships, aS well as
other groups and residents interested in

Bantams eliminated
from playoffs
by Kirk flusSey)
The Winthrop Bantams were
beaten 24 to 7 in their first playoff
game in Belgrave and lost the
second 27 to 5 in Winthrop.
Winthrop had a good chance of
winning in Belgrave but fielding
errors cost them the game. Two
errors in the first inning gave
Belgrave a 6 to 0 lead, Winthrop
did not score until the 3rd inning
when Kirk Hussey doubled to
allow John. Blanchard to score.
But by this time Belgrave led 14
to 1 after three innings..
ROM then on l3elgrave took a
large lead and by the end of six
innings Belgrave was leading 24
to 2. Five runs for Winthrop were
not enough to catch up to
Belgrave.
John Blanchard and Doug
Mitchell hit a triple apiece and
Kirk Hussey, hit a double.,.
Winthrop made seven errors in
the game.
In the second game once again
errors hurt, the Bantams. After
two complete innings Belgrave
lead 13 to 1. Winthrop's only run
up to that time was Gerry
Barringer's home run in the
second inning, Two innings later
Belgrave had stormed ahead 20 to
1.
At the end of six innings
Belgrave led 26 to 2. Winthrop
showed life in the seventh but
were retired by the side without
doing too much damage.
John Blanchard's triple scored
the three runs in the seventh
inning. The big hitters wer Gerry
Barringer with a homerun by
.John Blanchard with a triple and
Kirk Hussey with another double.

the playoffs were Bob Leeming
and Gerry Barringer who scored 3
runs apiece. John. Blanchard had

paigns this year.
No one person or company,
including the candidate, may
contribute more than $1,000 to
the campaign and stressed that
all contributions are tax
deductible.
Guest speaker at the
meeting, Eric Winkler,
chairman of the board of
management in the provincial
government and sitting
member for Grey, was the
guest speaker at the meeting.
He dwelt on the successes of
the conservative governments
of the past, "everyone a sue-
cessful term, every leader a
successful leader."
He lashed into the federal
government, charging that the
Ontario taxpayer is being taken
for a ride by the federal
government. He cited the two
latest budgets brought down by
the Liberals as examples of the
cost to the taxpayers.
He claimed that both budgets
Were in direct opposition to the
policies of the provincial
government, costing the.
Ontario tax payers $129 million.
Mr. Winkler encouraged the
local party members to
"gather some people together
and go," to help Mr. Walden be
elected "Tomorrow is the day,"
he added.
