Huronview float wins
Saturday , August 2nd, was a red letter day for at least 200
residents of theHome who were able to enjoy Clinton's
Centennial parade.
We are very proud of the fact that the Huronview' float won
1st prize in its class of Clubs and Organizations and received a
lovely trophy and twenty-five dollars. The residents
appreciate all those who helped in so many ways to make the
day a success. To the members of the staff who gave their
time and provided cars for transportation, for the donation to
the expense of the bus, to Ball and Mutch, Beatties, Archer's
Farm Supply and Huron County Museum who loaned articles
and equipment, to the Clinton Hospital and Margaret &
Clark Ball for the use of their lawns. Many thanks.
The "Entertainers", a group of young girls working with
the Student Grant Program helped to provide the "Family
Night" program. Miss Nancy Hearn of Clinton, danced two
Scottish numbers, Miss Evely u Benjamins played her own
guitar accompaniment for vocal solos and Mrs. Elsie
Henderson entertained with piano instrumentals. Members
of the Entertainers include June Williamson, Jane Seeming,
Janette Vanderween, Pat McDonald and Mary Ellen Knight
from the Brussels area.

gathering.
During the day various work-
shops are organized, where the
interested builder can learn all
the latest information about build
ing with metal, wood or fiberglass
Or builders of certain designs
give lectures on their particular
aircraft, and how it can be built
from the plans which they will sell
you. The latest design which
attracted a lot of attention this
year was called the Vari-Eze. The
wing was built of styrofoam
covered with a layer of fiberglass
top and bottom, and was so
strong the builder jumped up
walked right across the wing
(which you wouldn't do with most
light airplanes). It cruises 160
m.p.h. carrying two people on a
1600 c.c. Volkswagen engine at
50% power.
Jim says it was really fascinat-
ing to listen to this young fellow
in his late twenties describe how
this airplane was built and how
the average homebuilder could do
the same with a set of plans.
However Jim and Robert are
still sold on their type of airplane
for all round fun flying. On
Monday August 4 they headed for
home, returning by the same
route around the north of Lake
Michigan, but this time stopping
in at all different aiports, except
Port Huron, After 81/2 hours
flying time again in unbelievably
perfect flying weather, they set
down in Brussels, with lots \ to
thinkt about until the next fly-in
