Flood
plain group
plans brief
The five-membered executive
of the Brussels. Flood Plain
Committee met last Wednesday
and decided to submit a brief to
the Ministry of the environment.
Charlie Thomas, chairman of
the committee said a date hasn't
been set for a meeting with the
ministry. He said the committee
has contacted Murray Gaunt,
MPP for the area, to help present
the brief.
A public meeting was held
several weeks ago at the Legion-
which 60 citizens attended. The
committee was established to
fight the flood plain mapping.

If the flood plain map is
approved by the cabinet, then the
Conservation Authority will be
able to control development on
the flood plain which includes a
large_ portion of the village of
Brussels.
Mr. Thomas said the brief' is

Gary Davidson, the County
planner, told council Monday
night that Brussels' industrial
area is too small and its
commercial area too large.
Mr. Davidson has drawn up a
new plan and this will mean
changes in. the official plan.

A rare oddity of nature was .

Home Renewal Program. This
program is to help owners finance
repairs, to, old homes.
Owners of older homes who are
earning less than $12,500 can be
