Mrs.. Joe Dunbar presided and opened with hymn "Jesus Stand Among Us". She extended a welcome to guests from W.M.S. group of Brussels. Mrs. John C. McBurney read scripture from St. John. Mrs. W. Shortreed read the meditation. PrayeL was given by Mrs. Athol Bruce. Mrs. Campbell of Blyth sang a solo "In Times like These", accompanied by Mrs. W. Dalrymple on the piano. Hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" was sung. Mrs. Joe Dunbar then introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Andrew Gaunt of St. Helen's. She entitled her talk, , "He is not Here, He is Risen". She gave an inspiring talk ont he Resurrection and also talked of her trip to the Holy Land last fall. Mrs. Garner Nicholson read two poems, "The Day of Glory" and "He passed this Way". Mrs. Youngblut gave a special thanks to the speaker and soloist and also to everyone who helped.' "Breathe on Me Breath of God" was sung and Mrs. Joe Dunbar closed with prayer. Lunch was served. Evening Unit The regular April meeting of the Evening Unit was held at the home of Mrs. James Coultes with fifteen ladies present. Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler had charge of the worship servce, "Show Jesus His Hands". Hymn "A Charge to Keep I Have" was sung. Mrs. George Michie read the APRIL 16, 1975 24. Cards of Thanks 25. God saw you getting weaker He did what He though was best He put his arms around you And whispered come and rest. -Always remembered and sadly missed by wife Reita and family. 25-72x1 Correspondent Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse OnSaturday, April 5th, relatives and friends gathered at the Belgrave Unite, Church for a turkey dinner in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rath on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. At 8 o'clock everyone moved to the Institute Hall where the public was invited to a euchre and social with George Johnston acting as master of ceremonies. About one hundred people enjoyed the evening with High Lady going to Brian Radford (playing as a lady) High Man - Lewis Cook, Low Lady -Bradley McVittie,(playing as a lady) and LOW MAN Clifford Coutles. Novelty prize was given to Bert Johnston. After the euchre Mrs. George Jjohnston played a couple of selections on the piano. Clifford Coultes gave a reading of true facts about the lives of Clarence and Birdetta and the girls, he also recited a ,poem. Clarke Johnston sang several songs. Lunch was served by the United Church ladies and an enjoyable evening was spent by all. Friends and relatives were present from Ottawa, London, Toronto, St. Marys, Goderich, Clinton , Brantford, Wingham, Blyth, Brussels, Londesboro and Auburn. Many beautiful cars and gifts were received and appreciated. W.M.S. Meets The Easter Thankoffering meeting of the W.M.S. was held We wish to thank our friends and relatives and the friends, neighbours and relatives of the late Elizabeth Moses for the kindness shown to her while in her home, in hospital and in the Callander Nursing Home. Also for flowers and donations to the Cancer Society and Women's Missionary Society. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at the Callander Nursing Home; the Rev. Edwin Nelson; the pall- bearers; flowerbearers and the M. L. Watts Funeral Home. It was decided to buy 200 packages of hasti notes. Mrs. Cliff Logan was in charge of the program on "The Changing World for the Eastern Cree Indians", This brought the meeting to a close. Lunch was served. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler. Nine tables of euchre were played in the Community Centre last Wednesday evening with winners being: High Lady - Mrs. Gershom Johnston; Low Lady - Mrs. Ethel Holmes; Lady Novelty-, Mrs. Cora McGill; high Man William Taylor; Low Man - William Gow; Man's Novelty - Clarence Hanna. 4-H Belgrave Club #3 The third meeting of Belgrave 3 Club was held on April 7 , at 7 p.m. in the Belgrave Community Centre. The meeting began with 4-H Plege and motto. Brenda Nethery led the roll call which was 'Show your pattern and material for blouse'. Janice Coultes read minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. James Bakelaar f talked about what clothes should be worn for different seasons. Mrs. Robert Gordon discussed Wardrobe Harmony and also combining different colours with brown. The girls answered a few questions about the following subject. 'Suit the occasion, Wardrobe Harmony', cutting and marking and using a pattern. Our leaders explained how to prepare the material` for cutting. Janice Coultes . and Joanne Bakelaar demonstrated how to make the material grain perfect. Mrs. Gordon demonstrated how you shorten and lengthen the shoulder of a blouse. Janie Sanders demonstrated how to tack a dart. The meeting cloed with 4-H Creed. The meeting opened with the 4-H Pledge arid motto in the Belgrave Arena on April 7 at 4 p.m. The roll call "Tell What your activities are from your `personal analysis chart". The girls answered The next meeting will be held on April 14 in the Belgrave Arena at 4 p.m. The color for our record book was voted on and yellow was chosen. Cathy Walker read minutes of the last meeting. The decision on a name for the club was "Swinging Sewers". Maxine Procter discussed styles to suit the figure. Mrs. Clarke Johnston discussed how to choose a blouse. Maxine Procter and Mrs. Johnston discussed the summary matter. Patsy Scott measured Cathy Walker for practice in. taking 'measurements. neighbours gathered the Belgrave United Church for a Community Shower for Gwen • Hunter who will be married later this month. Mrs. Alex Nethery and Mrs. George Johnston conducted a -musical contest. An address was read to the bride by Mrs. John Guay. Mrs. James Hunter and ,Mrs. John MacLean assited Gwen in opening her, many gifts. Gwen thanked everyone and lunch was served. Afternoon Unit The Afternoon Unit of the Belgrave U.,C.W. met in the Sunday School room last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Lawrence Taylor opened the meeting with prayer and a reading on the Prelude of Easter. Mrs. Ethel Wheeler read the scripture lesson found in Matthew 2 - 8 and 16 - 20. Mrs. Taylor gave a talk on this subject followed by hymn "We have heard a joyful sound". Mrs. Wheeler explained how we could be missionaries at home as well as abroad. Mrs. Willard Armstrong gave the Bible Study on "The Pearl of Great Price." Mrs. Earl Anderson read the parable of the sower with different members reading corresponding verses. Mrs. Helen Martin took the study on the work in India. Collection was received and visits to sick and shut-ins recorded. Meeting closed with -hymn "In Christ there is no East or West", prayer. and the benediction. Personals Mrs. Stan Hopper, Mrs. William Coultes, Mrs Gordon Higgins, Mrs. Ross Higgins, Mrs. Leonard James and Mrs. Stanley Black attended the 70th Anniversary of the Clinton Women's Institute last Wednesday at the Clinton Legion Hall. The guest speaker was Mrs. Austin Zoeller of New Hamburg, editor of the Home and Country. Mr. and Mrs. John Norman and family of R.R.3, Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caldwell of R.R.3, Blyth and Mr.Arthur Ballagh of Wingham were dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs.. Jack Higgins on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs., James. Cook of Winnipeg, Manitoba spent a few days last week with his parents Mr. and Mrs.Albert Cook. The Belgrave Men's Choir, sang at the Walton Easter Thankoffering U.C.W. on Sunday evening. Rev. John Roberts was , guest speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procter visited on Tuesday ,with their daughter Miss Marjorie Procter of Sarnia;. Mrs. Larry Mayberry, Marilyn and Kimberley of Londesboro visited on Friday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robed Procter. The Belgrave Men's Choir will be presenting their spring concert in Eat tWawanosh Public School this Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hibberd visited on Saturday with their granddaught er, Sandra Campbell in Seaforth Hospital, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lichty and Wayne of R.R.1, Milverton visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hibberd. Robert Hibberd along with County Master Emerson Mitchell and D.C.M.Clare Van Camp visited L.O.L. 324 in Dungannon on Monday evening, April 7. It is interesting to note that the children are still skating and playing shinny on the nat ural ice in the Belgrave Arena as late as April 13. Mr. and Mrs. John Spivey, Brenda and Barbara of Ingersoll spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Procter also visited with their aunt, Miss Margaret Curtis who is a patient in. Wingham and District Hospital. Mrs. Hazel Wiggins of Brantford spent the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rath who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last Saturday evening. JACKLIN - In loving memory of my dear father, Carl Jacklin, who passed away April 16, 1974. The evening star shines over a grave of one I loved but could not save.
