Mrs. J. Van Vliet. Sr, opened the meeting with prayer. The 50th Anniversary hymn was sung. The scripture .from St. John 8: 46-48 was read by Mrs. Van Vliet followed, by a poem, "Palms of Jesus Hands". Mrs. Harvey Craig gave a reading "The Past Speaks, the Present Responds and the Future Beckons". Hymn "Women of God Arises" was sung followed by prayer by Mrs. Van Vliet. Mrs. H. Craig had a very interesting topic in the' form of a question box taken from the January Observer. Mrs. Roy Williamson con- ducted the business part of the meeting. Minutes were read by the secretary MrS. Harold Mc- Callum and the roll call -taken. The group was reminded of the Thankoffering meeting for April 6th at the church at 8 p.m when Rev. Roberts of Belgrave will be guest speaker and the Belgrave Men's Choir will provide special music. Anniversary' spoons cele- brating the 50th Anniversary of Church Union are to be ordered from the U.C.W. Easter lillies are to be pur- chased for the shut-ins. A farewell party was discussed for a family that are moving from the community. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction followed by a social half hour with lunch served by Mrs. Van Vleit, Mrs. H. Craig and the hostess. Shower held for Former Walton Girl The basement of Duff's United Church was tastefully decorated in pink and white streamers with umbrella and coloured ballons for, the community shower of Mrs. Roy Dalton (the former Gwen Bosmen( on Tuesday evening, Vliet,Janice Mae VanVliet, Wilmer Douglas Mitchell and Mary Christine Watson. Communion Service was observed, elders serving were: Don McDonald, Ron Bennett, Harvey McClure, Ian Wilbee, Neil McGavin and Graeme Craig. The Easter lilies placed in the church by the U.C.W. were for Mrs. Roy Bennett, Mrs. Walter Broadfoot, Mrs. Rose Campbell, Mrs. George Dundas, Mrs.Ethel March 25th. The guest bOok at the door was in charge of Peggy Dennis and Fay Dalton. Mrs. Charles MeCutcheon was the M.C. When she welcomed everyone and read a poem to the new bride. Dianne Godkin sang a solo, "Time in a Bottle" accompanying herself ,on the guitar. This was followed by the Godkin children singing "The Candyman Can" assisted at the piano by their mother Mrs. Laverne Godkin, Mrs. Neil McGavin played the piano while Kathy McGavin sang a couple solos. Mrs. Campbell Wey gave a reading on "Advise to the Bride. The guest of honour, Gwen, her mother, Mrs. Jack Rosman and the groom's mother, Mrs. Murray Dalton were presented with cor- sages upon arrival and were escorted to the decorated chairs at the. front. Mrs. Robert McMichael read the address of congratulations from her friends, Hackwell, Mrs. L. Hudie, Mrs. Margaret Humphries,'Mrs. Maud Leeming, Mrs. Martha . Sholdice. . 'The U.C.W. Easter Thankoffering Service will be held next Sunday evening at 8 P.M. Special guests will be Rev. John Roberts and' the Belgrave Men's Choir, visiting churches, U.C.W. members are invited, men are cordially invited to attend.. family have been visiting with friends at their cottage for a few days. relatives and former neighbors. The gifts were carried in by girl friends. The bows were put on an apron which was presented to Gwen,, which se wore and thanked everyone for the lovely gifts. Mrs. and Mrs. Dalton die residing in Seaforth. The McKillop Unit ladies were hostess and served a delicious lunch. W.I. Notes. The short course, "Baked in a Pie" sponsored by the Institute was completed last Wednesday evening. Twenty-two attended the two meetings held in the church kitchen. Final plans were made for the summary day to be held in Ontario Street United Church, Clinton on Thursday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m. Leaders are Mrs. Harold Hudie and Mrs. E. Liphard. Mrs. Evelyn Holt of Jamestown spent a recent week-end with her sister Mrs. Billthamer and visited with her mother Mrs. R. Camp- bell. Several ladies of Duff's United U.C.W. attended theThankoffer- ing meeting at Northside. United. Church Seaforth • on Tuesday evening when Miss Elaine Town- shend was guest speaker. Mr, Rollie Achilles accom- panied Mr, Jerry Achilles and his son of Ithaca to Hearst where they spent a couple of weeks, visiting with their brdtber Ted and MrS.1 Achilles, also with a sister enroute. Mr. and MrsiRobert Lundy ,of Hamilton arrived on Good Friday to spend the holiday week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Allan McCall. Easter Sunday Service at Duff's United Church, Walton was well attended when Rev. D. Docken took as his sermon, "You are now set free". The choir rendered an anthem "An Easter Carol". " During the Confirmation Service the following class joined , the church, Mary Dianne Godkin, Richard Paul Humphries, Brian Gregory Marks, Joyce Marie McCallum, Beth Aletha McNichol, Debbie Lynn Van Mr. and Mrs. William Thamer busy quilting the first of this week celebrated their 30th Wedding at the home of Mrs. B. Thanter. Mrs.Thamer was the former Ruth Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. William Thamer were married 30 years ago on March 31st, 1945 at the Walton Church Manse by Rev. Gordon Hazelwood. They have a family of four daughters and one son. An address was read to Ruth and Bill by Wenner Hettlein who expressed his congratulations on behalf of all those present. The family presented Ruth and• Bill with an antique table lamp. They also received other beautiful gifts. The evening was spent dancing to the disc jockey music and lunch was served by the Brodhagen ladies.
