Work has started on the Senior
Citizens Housing Project in
Brussels.
Bulldozers were at work on
Monday of this week clearing the
Brussels ladies learned how to
bake a pie when twenty were
present at W.I. course "Baked in
a Pie" led by Mrs. Dorothy
Steffler and Mrs. Alma Watson
on Thursday. The leaders covered
the basics of pie making and
compared the various flours by
grounds and it is expected that
the work will go on now.
This is good news for the many
Senior Citizens of this community
who have been anxiously waiting
making, baking and eating the
crusts. Quickie Lorraine, Salmon
and Potato Pie, Chou Pastry and
Maid of Honour tarts were some
of the dishes demonstrated.
The leaders were presented
with gifts, in token of the work
they had in presenting the course.
I for some time to see this project
become a reality.
It will also be of great
satisfaction to the Reeve and
former Council members to see
the years of negotiations finally
achieve the desired result.
The 34 unit building, under
construction by Taro Properties
Inc., is expected to be completed
by June 30, officials say.
The new apartments, on
Alexander Street, will be
occupied by Senior Citizens
from Brussels, Morris and Grey,
as the three municipalities are
co-operating with the province on
financing the building.
