"The Ontario Governor wants to ensure that every yo person has equal access to many employment opportun that Experience '75 offers, " Welch said. "We hope many Ontario's young men and wo will find interesting opportuni that utilize their special talents the area of public service." Culture and Recreation Minis- ter Robert Welch has announces that Ontario will provide 7,500 summer jobs for youths under a special employment program. Ontario Experience '75 will be separate from the regular summer replacement program under which approximately 10,000 students are hired by various Provincial Ministries and agencies. Estimated cost of Experience '75 is $10.1 million. The Youth Secretariat is re- sponsible for the overall co-ordination of the summer employment program including program development, budget, evaluation, and the information function. The 27 component programs that make up the Experience '75 package, however, are all operated through various Minis- tries of the Ontario Government. In most cases, programs are also run in co-operation with local, established agencies such as municipalities, conservation Brussels Senior Friendship Club met on Wednesday at noon to enjoy a pot luck dinner; arranged attractively on a long centre table. Any members who were interested in doing crafts were asked to meet with the President Eleanor Hemingway. A plan may be worked out whereby a room will be available for a program of some sort. Frank Carter, speaking for the Brussels Bowling Club, extended an invitation to the Senior Citizens to use the facilities of their new Bowling Club House. With the help of a New Horizons Grant the C.N.R.Station will be moved from its present site to the grounds' of the Brussels Fair Board. A possibility of an afternoon for bowling for Senior Citizens was mentioned. The President and the executive were named a committee to review T.V.Progra.ms, and to draft a letter in protest of the unsavoury ones and commendifig the good ones. Thirteen tables of progressive euchre were played with the winners as follows: High Lady - Mrs. Ernest Stevens; Low Lady - Mrs. j.Van Vliet; High Man - Mrs. Eleanor Hemingway (Playing as a man); Low Man - Mrs. Amy Speir (playing as a throughout the Province to accelerate their own responses to changes in our economy and society. As the name Experience '75 suggests, young people are also gaining valuable work experience while they do jobs that provide concrete benefits to their com- munities and the citizens of Ontario. The program spans a broad range of employment fields as varied as recreation, culture, social service, education, the environment, law, tourism and commerce. This summer, young people might be found conducting traffic studies for a local police force or staffing a summer legal aid clinic. They may be providing informa- tion on Government equal oppor- tunity programs for women or operating their own summer business. Some will certainly be clearing roadsides and lakeshores of litter, • while others help local museums catalogue their collec- tions. These are just a few examples, of the many challenging and important duties Experience '75 students will carry out this summer. Mr. Welch stressed that Ontario Experience '75 employees would be doing jobs that need to be done. They will be concerned with developing new initiatives, finding new ways to deliver services, or adding innovative new elements to exist- ing programs.
