Culture and Recreation Minis-
ter Robert Welch has announces
that Ontario will provide 7,500
summer jobs for youths under a
special employment program.
Ontario Experience '75 will be
separate from the regular
summer replacement program
under which approximately
10,000 students are hired by
various Provincial Ministries and
agencies. Estimated cost of
Experience '75 is $10.1 million.
The Youth Secretariat is re-
sponsible for the overall
co-ordination of the summer
employment program including
program development, budget,
evaluation, and the information
function.
The 27 component programs
that make up the Experience '75
package, however, are all
operated through various Minis-
tries of the Ontario Government.
In most cases, programs are also
run in co-operation with local,
established agencies such as

Brussels Senior Friendship
Club met on Wednesday at noon
to enjoy a pot luck dinner;
arranged attractively on a long
centre table. Diners helped
themselves to the delicious dishes
and thanks are extended to the
lunch committee who had
arranged it.
A program of music and
dancing followed which included
tap dances by Leanne Armstrong,
violin selections by Mrs. Emerson
Mitchell accompanied on the;
piano and guitar by Mrs.Bert'
Elliott and Ted. Ted also did a
fine job of tap dancing to the final
piece of music.
• Members were reminded of the
tickets being sold on a quilt and
were asked to return the money
for tickets sold, at the next
meeting if possible.
Any members who were
interested in doing crafts were
asked to meet with the President
Eleanor Hemingway. A plan may
be worked out whereby a room
will be available for a program of
some sort.
Frank Carter, speaking for the
Brussels Bowling Club, extended
an invitation to the Senior
Citizens to use the facilities of
their new Bowling Club House.
With the help of a New Horizons
Grant the C.N.R.Station will be
moved from its present site to the
grounds' of the Brussels Fair
Board. A possibility of an
afternoon for bowling for Senior
Citizens was mentioned.
The President and the
executive were named a
committee to review
T.V.Progra.ms, and to draft a
letter in protest of the unsavoury
ones and commendifig the good
ones.
Thirteen tables of progressive
euchre were played with the
winners as follows: High Lady -

As the name Experience '75
suggests, young people are also
gaining valuable work experience
while they do jobs that provide
concrete benefits to their com-
munities and the citizens of
Ontario. The program spans a
broad range of employment fields
as varied as recreation, culture,
social service, education, the
environment, law, tourism and
commerce.
This summer, young people
might be found conducting traffic
studies for a local police force or
staffing a summer legal aid clinic.
They may be providing informa-
tion on Government equal oppor-
tunity programs for women or
operating their own summer
business. Some will certainly be
clearing roadsides and lakeshores
of litter, • while others help local
museums catalogue their collec-
tions.
These are just a few examples,
of the many challenging and
important duties Experience '75
students will carry out this
summer. In many cases, those
who participate will be able to
directly apply what they are
learning in secondary school,
college, or university to their
