These hardy felows did not seem to mind the cold either before or after the swim. Some at least were strolling around in their brief swim attire both before and after the swim. CANOE RACES Six couples took canoes into the water for the couples race. The event took place without any disaster, most canoeists seemed quite expert with the paddle. Winners were: 1st. Greg, Cowan and Rene Boogerman of Brussels; 2ns. Joe Laurie and Ken Farwell of Exeter; 3rd. Don Martin and Joe Deitsch of Brussels; 4th J. B. H obbs and B. Campbell of Barrie; 5th Ted. Cowan and George Mcclory of Brussels; 6th. I. M acMillan and R. Wissenz. THUNDER MUG RACES The Thunder Mug races were the usual hilarious affair with plenty of laughter, fun, thrills and spills. • Results were as follows: Boys 14 and under - Bruce and Gary Godkin. Girls 14 and under - Patricia Haveman and Heather Bremner. Boys over 14 - Murray Procter and Don Bobbie; Girls over 14 - Susan Langlois and Carol Raymond. DANCE The moccasin 'dance at the arena on Saturday night was perhaps the most popular of the Polar Daize events. The dance, with the music of Ben Martin and His Oktoberfest Polka Band, attracted a huge crowd who seemed to thoroughly enjoy a most successful evening. Ir SNOWMOBILE RACES The mild weather with rain completely washed out the snowmobile races scheduled for Sunday afternoon. This was to be regretted, not only because of disappointnient but .for the fact that the Lions Committee in charge had spent a great deal of time in planning and arrangements for this anticipated event which not only attracts a good many competitors but spectators as well.
