Mrs. Mac Engel
Earl Dunn was able to come
home on Saturday following a two
week stay in Listowel Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cameron
drove John Vanass to the airport
on Thursday when he left on a trip
to Holland to visit his family. Mr.
and Mrs. Cameron spent a few
days visiting friends in Aurora.
Weekend visitors with Douglas
and Mrs. Purdy included their
son Keith and ,Mrs. Purdy and
children, Alliston, Mr. and Mrs.
John Bouch and family,
Collingwood and Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan Lees of Toronto.
Mrs. N. Lefor was hostess for
the February meeting of the
Cranbrook W.I., which opened in
the usual way. The secretary read
the minutes of the January
meeting. The adult short course
"Baked in a Pie", will be held on
Tuesday evenings later. in
February. Anyone in the
community interested in this
course should contact the leaders,
Mrs. Jack Cox or Mrs. Frank
Workman for particulars.
Correspondence from FWIO
president Mrs.Maluske
concerning International
Women's Year and the increase
in fees to $1.50 was read by the
secretary. It was decided to pay
the pooling fee for our delegate to
the Officers' Conference April 29,
30 and May I at the University of
Waterloo. The treasurer's report
was read and regular collection•
and pennies for friendship taken.
The Agriculture and Canadian
Industries convener Mrs. W.
Bremner presided for the
program. The roll call "Your ,
favorite way of stretching your
meat dollars" was answered by
15 members and one guest. Mrs.
Bremner and Mrs. John Strickler
led a discussion about stretching
our shopping dollars. Among the
topics were catalogue stores, bulk
buying and factory outlets.
Mrs. Gordon Engel gave
current events, with a different
twist, taken from the "Brussels
Post" of the 1890's.
Lunch was served by iM rs.
Goldwin Knight, Mrs. Clare
Veitch and M.rs.N. Lefor.
The meeting closed by singing
"0 Canada"'.
OBITUARY
MRS. DOROTHY PEGELOW
Mrs. Dorothy Pegelow of
Brussels passed away in Wing=
ham and District Hospital on
Tuesday, . January 29th; in her
59th year. She had been an
invalid for a number' of years.
Born in New Vestminster,
B.C., she was the former Dorothy
Phobe Messinger and was the last
surviving member of her family.
She is survived by her hus-
band, J. C. Pegelow of Brussels.
Funeral services were held
from St, John's Anglican Church
at 2:00 pm: on Friday, January
31st, conducted by the Rev. Fred
Carson.
Temporary entombment took
place in Brussels Cemetery
Chapel with burial later in
Brussels Cemetery,
Pallbearers were M. Hawse of
St. Catharines, Jack MeCtitCheon
