A boy asked his fattier what
"extinct" meant.
"Suppose," answered his
father, "all life on earth were
wiped out. Then you could say the
human race was extinct."
The boy thought for a moment,
then asked, "Who would you say
it to?''

After the expense of holiday
entertaining, it's time to tighten
the food budget. The "specials"
on ground beef, featured in many
stores, can help you eat well for
less, Some meat counters offer
:'est buys on two and three pound
7ackages. Take advantage of the
.,Aver prices, even if you only plan
use one pound or less at a time.
'at can easily freeze the rest for

Divide the ground beef into the

that you need for the next day or
Nqa should be wrapped loosely in
-axed or foil paper and stored in
he coldest part of your

le ground beef tightly in freezer
)il or place it in moisture
vapor-proof containers. Store it at
(-)F or lower for no longer than
:hree months to retain the best
duality.
A piping hot hamburg pie is an
economical way to satisfy robust
winter appetites. The meat pie
recipes which follow call for only
It one pound of ground beef, yet ,
, easily serve six.
The . "Hamburg Cottage
