Recently • a discussion was
overheard on the main street,
concerning the Monday closing of
stores here. Many people of the
farming community are, and have
been, unhappy about it. This
custom has long been a mater of
controversy. One remark was
"close Monday in the summer if
they want a long week end, but at
least stay open on Monday in the
winter". Some merchants
contend that there is not enough
business on Monday to make it
worth their while staying open.
Would-be-customers say "It is a
good way to lose business."
