The Brussels Post, 1974-07-31, Page 12UP' UP AND AWAY — A large crane lifts one of the two water wheels from the old mill on the Maitland in Brussels. One wheel has been donated to the Huron County Museum in Goderich and the other will remain as one of the attractions in the mill which is .4.4th being restored by SWEEP crews who are working for the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority who owns the mill. An old shed adjoining the mill is being torn down and brush and undergrowth cleaned up (Photo by Pat Langlois) from the mill area. If you are lucky enough to have parents who welcome pets into the family you are blessed indeed. Some people abhor cats but nevertheless there are cats that are intelligent and better company than some people. Dolls were often forsaken for a cat that was a "joyful playmate of early years". He meekly submitted to be dressed in doll's clothds, placed gently in a doll carriage where he would stay for h ours until given permission to get out and be undressed. He had a canny sense of time. Each school day he was at the gate at exactly the noon hour and four o'clock. If detained after school, there he sat, patiently engaged in meticulously grooming himself, ready to leap into arms with ardent welcome. Adept at awakening a sleepyhead, tired of waiting, he would spring on the bed, gently slap face With sheathed claws until he was Sure lazy-bones was wide awake and ready to play. A favourite game was hide-and-seek, Every nook and cranny of the house was searched until he sprang with glee and victorious meows on his playmate: Stupid cat Not him! News of Cranbrook Former pupils of S.S. 7 meet to discuss old times Correspondent • Mrs. Mac Engel A number of former pupils of S.S. #7 Grey (Cranbrook), met on Sunday afternoon at the home of Miss Kate McNabb and enjoyed a. pleasant time renewing school days in Cranbrook.
