Mrs. Huether and Miss Mitchell of the staff expressed appreciation to Ralph Pearson who drove the bus and to •• chaperones Mrs. Anna Hamilton, rs. Joanne King and Miss Fern Iliott. They said everyone was ehaved and that they 'contributed to an event that ;,!,wotild be long remembered. Recalling events of the day, two ,upils of Grade 2 have described • ighlights in the reports that ,• 0110W: We Went on a Trip' by Brenda Richmond - Grade II We got on the bus and then we 'started to leave. I s4 with June .jrid Kellie and Gwen. It took us n hour and a half to get to Grand end. We couldn't find the way to he zoo. But at last we found it. $ e got off the bus and went to the animals. We saw the •',eacocks first. They had pretty lags. We saw the monkeys and `hey shook hands with us. We s>c.w the boa constricter snake, :lligators, deer, porcupines, '1ionkeys, turtle, red fox, leopard, -fears, and ostriches. The man. put 'Mlle snake around his neck. Then ent to eat at the park and :';Tier we ate we went to see the !,ake. We then went to the museum and saw old clothes, an old organ and a lot of other things, I liked the trip, I hope we get to go again. `A Trip to Grand. Bend by Doug Shaw - Grade II The grades one and two of Brussels Public School went for a trip to Grand Bend. Mr. Pearson our bus driver took us to the zoo and museum. At the zoo, we saw monkeys, a bob cat, a peacock, a bear, a wild boar, lion, porcupine, red fox, donkey, turtle, leopard, boa constrictor snake, fawn, Canada geese and many other things. The zoo keeper put the snake around his neck and let us pet it. And then. We went to eat. After we ate we went to the museum., At the museum we saw a fire truck, typewriter, television, musical 'instruments, clocks and' dishes from the olden days. At 2 p.m. we left for home. On our return trip home, we saw the Lake Huron Water Supply. We arrived back at school. Mrs. Huether read two stories until time to go home, after a very exciting trip,to Grand Bend. Thanks to the Grade 1 and 2 teachers and Mr. Pearson for taking us on our trip. ' Our own homegrown heroes have done it again., Ritchie's Rockets won the Wraith Storey Hardware trophy for winning the `13' championship at the Lucan Irish Nine fastball tournament. In the first game, Brussels lost to Thamesford 7-3. But the team then won three in a row, beating Walton 5-3, St. Marys 4-3, and in the final, Sylvan 7-3. Neil Gowing was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts. In two weeks, the Rockets travel to Thamesford for their fourth annual Kiwanis Fastball Tournament. II, Hu , Belgr home 70.
