Melville WI has Easter meeting
Melville Guild held its April
meeting in the Ladies. Parlour of
the church with a good atten-
dance.
'Easter' being the theme of the
meeting, • Leona Armstrong
opened the meeting with a
meditation 'Arise • 0 My Soul.'
This was followed by Hymn 189,
`Christ the Lord is Risen Today.'
The Scripture was read in unison
Matthew 28 verses 1-15. This was
followed with a prayer by Maty
Huether, Brian Armstrong fa-
voured with two piano solos.
`Six Variations' and 'Romeo
and Juliet' were enjoyed by all
present.
Topic
The topic prepared by Miss
Bessie Moses was given in three
parts titled 'An Easter Message
of Hope.' Leona Armstrong read
the first part. Hymn 243 'Jesus
Only Thought of Thee' was sung.
Mary Huether read the second
part and Jean Ireland the third.
This was a very interesting topic:
"What does Easter really mean to
us' and 'The part of women in the
Easter story.'
Hymn 205 `Lord Ye Saint' was
sung. Mrs. Armstrong then read
a meditation 'The Growing Sea-
son' and a poem, 'Planting Your
Garden', and closed this part of
the meeting with a prayer.
The President, Mary Huether,
welcomed all and some new
members joined. The sec'y. and
treasurers reports were given.
Marg Sweeney reported for the
carpet committee.
A discussion followed about a
Smorgasbord dinner and it was
decided to have a meeting of the
leaders of the 4 committees at the
home of Mrs. Huether Thursday,
May 3 at 8 o'clock.

In scanning the Zurich Citizens News reports that the
Bayfield Area Bluebird Society has constructed 450 boxes

the time to lay out trails. The first three pairs of birds were
sighted on the 20th of Stanley last week. Members of the
Society are placing boxes on Highway 8 and 21 within the
boundaries of Goderich and Stanley Townships. Each box is
numbered and labelled and its location noted. - - At the
regular Hayfield Village council meeting Monday evening a
letter was received from the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications stating that the village request for a flashing
