Accordion ,banjo entertain at Huronvie
Entertain at Huronview -
On the afternoon of April 17,
the Belgrave Women's Institute
with supporting talent was privil-
eged to entertain the 25 April
birthday celebrants and 100 other
residents of Huronview, Clinton
to a varied program.
Mrs. Leslie Bolt acted as
Master of Ceremonies.
The program opened with
instrumental numbers with Mrs.
Murray Lougheed, piano and son.
Scott on the banjo. The ladies
quartet Mrs. George Procter,
Mrs. Stanley Hopper, Mrs. Wil-
liam Coultes and Mrs. Glenn
Coultes contributed in fine style
accompanied by Mrs. Norman
Coultes.
Accordion selections by Mrs.
George Procter were much appre-
ciated. Scotch and Irish renditions
sung by Clarke Johnston with
Mrs. Norman Coultes, pianist,
were thoroughly enjoyed.

The Easter meeting of the W.I.
was held on Tuesday, April 16 at
8:15 p.m. in the Community
Centre with an attendance of 32.
The president, Mrs. Norman
Coultes, presided and opened the
meeting with Institute Ode. Mary
Stewart Collect and 0 Canada.
The president welcomed all pre-
sent. Mrs., Glenn Coultes was
convenor of the program, theme
`spring is a promise that hope is
reborn and after the darkness
then comes the morn.'
Roll Call
The roll call 'Easter Poem or
Thought' was well responded to.
Mrs. Coultes introduced the
guest speaker, Rev. Barry-Pass-
more, who gave an illustrated
account of his trip to the Middle
East. Some places mentioned
were Golgatha, Jerusalem, Gali-
lee, Bethlehem, Mount of Olives,
Gethsamane, and other places in
the Holy Land.
The Ladies Quartet, Mrs. Stan
Hopper, Mrs. George Procter,
Mrs. William Coultes and Mrs.
Glenn Coultes contributed two
numbers.
The secretary, Mrs. Ross
Higgins, gave a report of the last
meeting and the treasurers re-
port. The correspondence •
included -a notice of fall project
"the Club Girl Entertains.' All
those .who can attend District
Annual at Belgrave, please report
to the secretary, Mrs, Ross
Higgins, to assist those who are
preparing the dinner.
Nominating
Mrs. Ivan Wrightman reported
the executive meeting held in
Auburn. Report of the nomination
committee was read by Mrs. Dan
Hallaham. Minutes of last years
annual report was read by the
secretary, also the financial state-
ment for 1973.
Reports of standing committees
were given by Convenors.
The president gave a full report
of the years activities. She
thanked all for their splendid
cooperation. A sincere thank you
from all members to the president
for her leadership and loyalty to
the work and endeavour of the
branch was
New Officers
Mrs, Alice Scott was elected to
the chair for election of officers
for 014-76. Mrs. Ross Higgins
Coultes, Veronica Bakelaar, Ruth
Higgins, Debbie Hopper, Sara
Lougheed, Paul and Steven
Coultes in a finger play song.
Two readings `Ma Learns to
Drive' and 'The Farmer's
Lament,' by Mrs. Leslie Bolt
proved very humorous.
The program concluded with
Mrs. William Coultes leading in a
sing-song of familiar numbers
and requests. Mrs. Norman
Coultes assisted with piano
accompaniment.
The celebrants were presented
with gifts by the W.I. and
refreshments were served by
Mrs. Stewart Procter and her
assistants.
Six Tables
Six tables of euchre were
played in the Belgrave Commun-
ity rooms last Wednesday even-
ing with winners as follows: High
Lady-Mrs. Herb Wheeler; Low
Lady-Mrs. Hazel Procter; Novelty
Lady-Mrs. Cora McGill; High
Man-Joe Green; Low Man-Mark
Armstrong; Novelty Man-Law-

held April 29 in W.I. Hall to
complete plans for District An-
nual in May.
Collection was received and
visits to sick and shut-ins were
reported. The meeting closed
with the Queen and Institute
Grace.

Easter Thankoffering
The Easter Thankoffering
meeting of the W.M.S. was held
en April 18 in the Presbyterian
Church.
The preSident, Mrs. Joe Dun-
. bar, opened the meeting with the
poem 'Easter and. Journeys End.'
She also led in prayer. Hymn
`There is a Green Hill Far Away'
was sung. Mrs. Dunbar wel-
comed the visiting ladies from
Calvin-Brich, Anglican and
United Churches, Goderich Pres-
byterian W.M.S. Mrs. Walter
Shortreed read scripture from St.
Luke followed by meditation by
Mrs. Garner Nicholson.
A prayer was read by Mrs. J.C.
McBurney. Mrs. Harold Camp-
bell of Blyth was guest soloist and
sung a beautiful hymn 'At the
Rising Sun.'
Mrs. Dunbar introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Enright of
Goderich, president of the Huron
Presbyterial. She gave a very
inspiring Easter message. Mrs.
William Dalrymple played a piano
solo 'What a Friend We Have in
Jesus.'
Mrs. Victor Youngblut spoke a
few words of thanks to the
speaker and the soloist.
Hymn 'Beneath the Cross of
Jesus' was sung. '
' Mrs. Joe Dunbar closed the
meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served and a social
time was enjoyed.
Euchre
On April 10th the Belgrave
Euchre was played in the
community rooms with winners as
follows: High Lady •• Mrs. Ella
Johnston; Low Lady - Mrs. James
McTaggart; Novelty Lady - Mrs.
Hazel Procter; High Man -
Herson Irwin; Low Man - Douglas

Unit 1
The second meeting of
Belgrave I 4-H met in the
Belgrave arena on April 15. It
opened with 4-H Pledge and
motto. The roll call "When
meeting a person for the first time
what do you notice about him or
her. The girls answered this
question. Connie Meurs read the
minutes. The next meeting to be
April 22nd in the arena.
Members discussed a name for
the club and it was decided to call
it "Tip Top Teens". A colour for
our 4-H cover is blue. Mrs.
Johnston discussed all about
grooming.
The meeting closed with taps.
Unit II Belgrave It 4-H met on
April 1st the "Belgrave Mirror
Maids" for their second meeting.
The roll call "What do you notice
most about a person on meeting
them" was answered by 19 girls.
After opening the meeting the
leaders did a demonstration on
nail care. The girls were allowed
to try the steps of good nail care.
A demonstration was done on
how to cut out one of the special
projects.
The Meeting was closed by
singing 'Happy Birthday' to one
of the members.
The next meeting is on April
15.
