THE BRUSSELS POSt APRIL 1,104 • • - Mrs. Dora Somers of Brussels passed away in the Callander Nursing home on Tuesday, April 10th after a long illness. She was in her 80th year. The former Dora Watson was born in Morris Township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Watson. She received her early education in Morris Township and later in Brussels and Wingham. She taught school for 15 years in Hepworth, Morris Township, Ethel and Walton. She was a faithful member of St. John's Anglican Church, Brussels. She is survived by her husband, Earl Somers, two sons, Archie of Brantford and Paul of Kitchener also two granddaughters and four great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. William (Bessie) Mitchell of Brussels. She was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian; Mrs. Mel (Ethel) Williams of Pontiac, Mich. and Lottie, and three brothers, Reg. of Chatham, Bert, 5th line of Morris and Stanley of Brussels. Resting at the Watts Funeral Home, Brussels, the funeral service was held at St. John's Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th. Rev. Fred Carson was the officiating minister. Burial took place in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were - Clarke Matheson, Vern Hupfer, Reg. • Watson, Carson Watson, Jack Mitchell and Harvey Dennis. E . POST WANT-ADS. DIAL 887-6641 Correspondent Mrs. Mac Engel Mrs. Jack Knight was hostess for the April meeting of the W.M.S, with thirteen in attendance. In the absence of. Mrs. Wilfred. Strickler, the president, Mrs. Earl Dunn presided for the Easter service in the "Glad Tidings". "There is a green bill far away" was sung and Mrs. Stuart McNair read the Scripture, "The Day of Resur- rection" was sung following which Mrs, Leslie Knight gave a review of our local W.M.S. from its beginning in 1902 - 1946 which she had given at a previous meeting. Roll Call The roll call was answered with an Easter verse. Members reported making 14 visits • to shut-ins and sending 17 cards during' the month. Plans were made to have a booth at Glenn Huether's sale- on April 17. The ladies are invited to Walton on April 21 at 8 p.m. when the Bradley family will provide entertainment... Mrs. Mac Engel continued with the W.M.S. report fdr the years 1947 - 1954. This will be continued in another meeting. "Crown Him with Many Crowns" was sung' and the closing prayer was in unison. Mrs.Lylle Gordon and Mrs.Stanley Fischer assisted the hostess with serving lunch. Quilts at W.I. The April meeting of the Women's Institute was held at the 'home of Mrs. Frank Workman. Roll call was answered by the payment of one dollar each for membership for 1974-5. A donation will be given to the Ladies' Division pf the Brussels Fair. • . The first choice was "Quilts" and second choice was "Acces- sories for the Home" for Leaders' Training School. For the Senior Short Course first choice is "The Bedroom and Bath" and secon choice is "Needlecraft". It was decided to continue to have a sunshine sister and gift exchange at the. next April meeting. The ladies will cater to a lunch in April. and a wedding reception in May. Mrs. Gordon Engel and Mrs. Jack Cox will get information re prizes for bicycle rodeo at the local school. Mrs. Engel will be delegate to the Officers' Conference at Waterloo on May 1st and 2nd, Conveners 'Conveners' will meet at' the home of Mrs. Wilfred Strickler on April 23 at 8 p.m. to plan the .programs for the coming year., Mrs. W. Strickler read an addresS to Mrs. Cliff Bray and Mrs, Urban Ducharme, two members who have moved from the community. Mrs. Leslie Knight presented them with gifts, A lively game was conducted by Mrs. M. Becker and the sunshine gifts' were exchanged. Lunch was served by Mrs. J. Conley, Mrs. Ducharme and the hostess. Mrs. W:Strickler was appointed to preside for the annual meeting and Mrs. Veitch to act as secretary. Convener• reports were given by Mrs, Donald Perrie, WS. Workman, Mrs. Becker, Mrs, Hart and Mrs. Bray. Mrs. Goldwin Knight reported for "sunshine" cards and gifts sent. Mrs. J. Cox reported for Public Relations and Mrs. G. McNabb; Family The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held in the Lodge Rooms April 9 with N.G.Joan Bernard presiding and a good attendance of sisters present. Details and final arrangements were made to viit sister lodges this week, in Atwood; Listowel, Goderich and Clinton, CommitteeS were arranged for the 'Variety'Fair to be held May 4.
