LOTTERY WINNER — Gus Eder of Brussels shows
his winning ticket in the Olympic Lottery Canada
draw which was held Sunday night. Mr. Eder, who
owns Eder's Variety on Main St. in Brussels won
$1,000. Mr. Eder says he has no immediate plans on
how to spend the money but that he hopes to have his
car painted.

Huron B of E sets budget meeting
MARRIED 50 YEARS — Mr. and Mrs; Carl
McDonald of Ethel were honOured at an Open House
Tuesday, on their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary.
Mrs. McDonald is wearing a string of pearls, a gift
from her. husband, that she 'wore on her wedding
day.
The 1974 budget report of the
Huron County Education System
will be presented to. the Huron
County Board for consideration on
Monday, April 22. The meeting
will begin at 7;30 p.m. when the
Board will meet in committee-of-
the-whole for the first hour,
following which the press will be
allowed to sit in on the meeting.
D, J. Cochrane, ;Director of
Education, said at the regular
board meeting in Clinton Monday
that trustees would be mailed
copies of the budget no later than
Thursday so that each will be able
to study it and be prepared to
accept or reject it on Monday
next.
Mr. Cochrane asked the
trustees what their reaction would
be to having a committee of
trustees, administration,
principals and teachers making
some recommendations on field
trips, putting field trips under the
microscope, because "field trips
seem to be a topic that we re
netting hung up on".
Wilfred Shortreed, Vice-Chairman
of the Board, said "Some Schools,
seem to be coming with more
requests than others for field
trips."
Mr. Cochrane said, "In world
affairs I guess we are talking
about a royal commission or a
task force."

neighbours attended an open
house in Grey Central School on
April 16th “b honour Mr. and
Mrs. Carl McDonald, Ethel on
their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Guests were received at the
door by the family, Mrs. Norman
Coghlin, Mrs. Chester Earl and
Rev. Stanley McDonald. The
Guest Book was in charge of a
granddaughter, Miss Judy Earl
and great granddaughter Miss
Debbie Coghlin, Fordwich, They
were assisted by Mrs. Kim Bell,
Listowel, another granddaughter.
A social evening was spent with
the couple and a lunch was served
by the W.I. of Ethel.
Mr. and Mrs. McDonald were
married in Listowel at the
Methodist Church parsonage by
Rev. E.W.Edward.
Mr. McDonald is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Alex
McDonald, who lived on the 6th
of Grey. Mrs. McDonald, the
former Hilda Hewitt, was a
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.

was served to the immediate
family, They lived on the 6th of
Grey until six years ago when
they moved to Ethel.

play cards. Mrs. 'McDonald is a
member of the Ethel W.I. and
U.C.W.
