In seaman the Zurich Citizens News we note that the plans
of directors of the Blue Water Rest Home to build a senior
citizens apartments across from the present facilities may be
hitting a snag, following a 'meeting between the Hay
Township Council and Huron County Planning director Gary
Davidson on Monday afternoon. Mr. Davidson termed the
idea as "not conforming with the Official Plan of the
County". The directors of the Rest Home just recently
purchased the property across the road from the present
home, with the hope of building the apartments as soon as
necessary approval has been received. The members have
agreed to hold up any forthcoming application for a building
permit until another meeting could be arranged between
themselves and the Huron County Planning Department. —
A group of Mennonite Young People from St. Marys area
provided the residents of Blue Water Rest Home with a
musical program on Sunday, - - Mr, and Mrs. Urban Pfile,
Zurich, were honored recently on the occasion of their 50th
Wedding Anniversary.
The Lucknow Sentinel reports that Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Haldenby of Kinloss Township marked their 50th Wedding
. Anniversary recently with a famiy dinner and open house. - -
Caartuthers Nursing Home on the 6th concession of Kinloss
Township will cease operation as a nursing home after 20
years and will commence operation as a boarding home for
men. - - - Mrs. Tom Inglis of West Wawanosh celebrated hr
93rd birthday Sunday. Slie enjoys fairly good health and
resides with her daughter, Betty Flannigan. - - - (Mr. (Sandy)
Alex Hackett of Lucknow observed his 90th birthday recently.
- Lucknow and District Kinette Club received its certificate
4 of formation at the Lucknow Legion Hall on Saturday night.
Mrs. Tony (Donna) Johnstone of Lucknow is president of the
local club.
According to the Mitchell Advocate a t raffle light is to be
installed at the junction of Highway 8 and 23, warranted by a
973. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications will
be requested to • install a traffic light at the highway
intersection.
- - Mayor Norman Walt, Mitchell, received the keys to
the new area fire truck which arrived on Thursday evening.
The area fire truck is for five adjoining municipalities,
Hibbert, Logan, Fullarton, Mitchell and Blanshard. The cost
was $35,000, proportionately shared. Fire Chief Murray
Dalrymple was also on hand at the time of the presentation of
the truck and keys to Mayor Walt.
According to the Clinton News-Record Stanley Township
Council Monday decided to ask the Huron County Planning
Board to draw up a secondary plan for the township. The plan
will give the council some ideas on areas that should be zoned
as agricultural, recreational or residential. The township
could then draw up a zoning by-law for the township and any
new building in the municipality would have to conform to
that plan. - - A former manager and a 40 year employee of
the Clinton Public Utilities Commission, Jabez Rands,
unveiled a commemorative. placpie at the PUC's offices last
Friday afternoon on the occasion of the PUC's 60th
Anniversary., Mr. Geo. R. Currie of London, Manager of
Ontario Hydro's Western Region was the guest speaker at the
Clinton PUC's 60th Anniversary dinner at the Clinton Hotel
last Friday. He said he admired the stability of the Clinton
PUC.
The ExeterTimes-Advocate reports a very unusual event
ok place recenity on the Staffa area farm of Rev. Daynard. A
eye gave birth to no less than five lambs. Two of the newborn
were transferred to a foster mother. — - Two additional
officers joined the Exeter Detachment of the Ontario
Provincial Police this week. They are Sgt. Norton W. Rhines,
takes over command of the local detachment, the other new
officer is Constable James Rogers.
Mayor Harry Worsell, according to the Goderich
Signal-Star, presented the traditional top hat to Captain Roy
Mundy as the captain brought the first freighter into Goderich
Harbour Sunday night. Captain Mundy also received a pen
and pencil set and a box of cigars from the town. His wife
eceived a corsage and his daughter a :souvenir pen from

ariee and General Hospital, Lyla Youngblutt has retired. In
anor of her many years of service, hospital personnel had a
pedal diener'for her. Chairman of the hospital board, Ken
