Doug Shaw ,as the leading goal scorer with 3 pals and 2 assists. Danny whines, 2 goals unassisted, Levin Wheeler 1 goal, 1 assist; Levin McArter, 1 goal, 1 assist; 'eter Bennett, 1 goal, 1 assist; Irian Wheeler, 1 goal; Dean tutledge 1. assist. In the second game after dinner hey played a rather deple, ted Yingham team and won easily by 13-0 score. They returned to Listowel on Sunday afternoon to play against a very strong team from. Forest. They lost that game to Forest 6 - 2 but brought home a very nice runners-up trophy for their efforts. On Thursday the Novice t eam played in Monkton at 8:00 A.M.. against Atwood and won 6 - 1. Scoring for Brussels was Danny Achilles, 2 goals, unassisted; Dean Rutledge, 2 goals from Danny Achilles;Kevin Wheeler, 1 goal unassisted; Brian. Wheeler, 1 goal assisted by Kevin Wheeler. In the championship game the Brussels team squeaked by Monkton by a 3 - 2 score to win the trophy. Goal scorers were Danny Achilles 2, Kevin Wheeler, 1. On Saturday the Novice team played in the Blyth Lion's Tournament and came u p with three very close and exciting hockey games. Their first encounter was against Milverton and finished with a 4 - 2 win. Scoring was Brian Wheeler, 2; Murray Pipe, 1; Doug. Shaw, 1; Assists went to Kevin Wheeler, Doug Shaw and Kevin McArter. The second game was against Seaforth and they finished 3 - 0. Doug Shaw scored 2 goals, Kevin Wheeler, 1. Assists went to Kevin Wheeler and Danny Achilles. In the trophy game they ended up playing the home team of Blyth and picked up a 3 - 1 win for the championship. Danny Achilles scored 2 goals and assisted on the goal' by Brian Wheeler. This team played eight games in four days of tournament activities and are' to be congratulated for their f'ne performance. In the Atom tournament here in town the local team played Chesley on Saturday morning in a very close and exciting hockey game. They edged Chesley 3 - 2 with Brian Tenpas scoring 2 goals assisted by Ken Cousins with Ken scoring the third goal from Terry McCutcheon. On Sunday they lost out in another very close and nerve wracking game. Zurich provided.-- the opposition and came up witiCa 4 - 3 win eliminating the Brussels team. In Zone playoff action the third and deciding game between Teeswater and. Brussels Bantams was played last Wednesday e'vening in Brussels. The referees kept what could have been an unruly game well under control and after three full periods of fast land exciting hockey found the teams in a 2 - 2 deadlock. Brussels had been leading 2 - 1 and .at the 17:45 mark of the third period allowed Teeswater to tie the score. In the overtime period Brussels seemed to slacken off just a little with Teeswater scoring two more goals and Brussels only one. The final score read Teeswater 5, Brussels 3. Scoring for Brussels was Jerry Olechowski, David Stephenson and Murray Ducharme. Assists went to Jamie Jutzi 2; Dave Stephenson and Paul Gowing. The Midget team with their series tied at one win each travelled to Lucknow last Tuesday evening where they were defeated 7 - 3 and eliminated from any further playoff action. The Atom playoffs resumed after having a bye for the second series and played their first game in Milverton on Monday evening. The local team picked up a 5 - 1 win in their best 3 out of 5 series. Scoring for Brussels was Brian Tenpas, Terry McCutcheon, Mike Watson, Ken Higgins and Ken Cousins. Assists went to Mike Watson, Ken Cousins and Ken Higgins.
