thanks Prime Minister Trudeau for his purchase of the first sheet of Easter Seals in
Ottawa last week.
The young Belleville lad, who is Ontario's "Timmy" for 1974, flew to the capital
where he and the Prime Minister visited a "stuffing bee" organized by the local
Rotary Club and spoke to hundreds of volunteers busily engaged in stuffing
campaign envelopes with Easter Seals and appeal letters in preparation for the
huge mailing to prospective donors in the area.

Deer season
coming up
for Huron.
There will be a deer season in
Huron County this year although
it is not a unanimous decision on
the part of county councillors.
On a recorded yote in the
matter, council voted 27-27 with
the tie being broken by Goderich
Reeve Deb Shewfelt in favor of
the deer season.
Reeve Elgin Thompson showed
his displeasure to the way in
which Reeve Shewfelt broke the
tie by saying that in his opinion, it
was unfortunate that today's
people would allow animals such
as deer to run around with an
arrow or a bullet in their. hind
quarter.
Reeve Shewfelt countered with,
"That might be better than
starving to death." -
Evidence brought -to county
council last month by lands and
forests officials showed there are
many deer in Huron, enough to
warrant a deer season.
The county development
committee also recommended a
deer season and, approval was
finally given by council for a gun
season from November 11-13 and
an archery season from October
29 to November 25. The deer
season is for Ontario residents
only on condition the adjacent
counties concur.
The federal government has
established small business loan
funds of $5 million each in both
the Yukon and Northwest Terri-
tories. Each fund will lend up to
$600,000 annually. Purpose of the
fund is to help territorial
residents to establish' or expand
their own businesses.

"There is no point of just
objecting for objections sake,"
said Mcllwain. "Farmers don't
want to go back to pumping water
by windmill, we're using more
hydro all the time. It is a federal contributions to prize
necessary item. It is needed by all money for their purebred
livestock competitions.,
"Since the program was
introduced in 1965, emphasis in
competitions has shifted back to
utility of the purebred livestock,"
says Len Fisher of Agriculture
Canada's Live stock. Division.

Changes in Agriculture
Canada's livestock classifications,
for farm fairs and exhibitions
emphasize the practical value of
the animals on display.
The classifications provide a
means for major agricultural
exhibitions and fairs to receive
industry."
Mcllwain said there was a lot of
talk about loss of farm land when
"in actual fact, land was not
lost". He advocated knowing
more about Hydro's plans as well
as co-operation between Hydro
and the people of the area.
Warden Bill Elston said that in
his position, the main problem
was that farmers are not receiving
enough financial consideration
from Hydro when lines cross their
land.
$30,000 to help set up a pilot plant
to explore the idea further.
The project is aimed at
studying the technical and
economic possibility of methane
gas production from hog manure
in a cold climate. It is being
carried out in cooperation with
the University of Manitoba and
the Biomass Energy Institute of
Manitoba.
