The house is owned by Jack Bryans. The house was previously occupied by Adam
Smith, the late J.H.Galbraith and by L.D.Thompson. The Post apologizes for the

first place in the Optimistis public
speaking contest held in the
Brussels Public School
auditorium on March 15. The next
zone competition will be held in
Arthur on April 10.
Patti Wick, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Eldon Wick was a
patient in Listowel Memorial
Hospital for several days,
suffering from pneumonia.
A new house is being built by
N. Terpstra on the corner of 10th
con. and Cranbrook sideroad.
/Gerald Knight, little son of Mr.
and Mrs. Leslie Knight is a
patient in Wingham. Hospital.
Poster Wins
Tracy Engel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Engel, was a
winner in the Western Fair Farm
Show Poster Contest. There were
364 posters entered. Tracy is a
Grade 6 student at Grey Central
School.
Centre Meeting
The annual meeting of
Cranbrook Community Centre
was held Friday evening March 8,
Progressive euchre was played.
Charlie Thomas, reeve of the
township, was chairman for the
business par t of the meeting and
brought greetings from the
township. The minutes of the last
annual meeting and the last hall
board meeting were read by
Gordon Engel. The financial
report was given and accepted on
motion of Leslie Knight and Jim
Hart. Retiring officers were
Frank Workman; John Strickler,
Donald Fischer, Jim Hart, Charlie
Lake and Gordon Engel. These
were replaced by Leslie Knight,
Nick Lefor, . Charlie Bray and
Lloyd Smith, also two members
appointed by the W.I., Mrs.
Donald Perrie and Mrs. Wm.
Bremner,
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Wes. McEachern for the weekend
were their'son Winston andJohn
Beckett of Cambridge.

yards Friday was active in all
classes with a very heavy supply
of cattle meeting a strong
demand. The announcement of
the beef subsidy had a ready
effect on the A-1 and A-2 cattle.
There were 488 pigs on offer.

New officers elected to arena board

Mrs. Mac Engel
W.M.S. Meets
Mrs. Clare Veitch presided for
the March meeting of the W.M.S.
held at the home of Mrs. Earl
Dunn. The hymn, "0 Master Let
Me Walk With Thee" was' sung
with Mrs. Leslie Knight at the
piano. The Scripture from Isaiah
ch. 40, verses 3 - 11 and 28 - 31
was read responsively,' and the
meditation given by Mrs. Veitch.
Mrs. John A. Perrie led in prayer
and a poem "A tested recipe"
was read by Mrs. Gordon Engel.
In place of a regular topic an
outline of the local W.M.S. was
given by Mrs. Leslie Knight. It
was first organized in 1902 and
was called -the Cranbrook
Auxiliary Society of the Women's
Foreign Missionary Society of
thePresbyterian Church in
' Canada. The ladies of Cranbrook
church met on September 11th,'
1902 and it was unanimously
resolved to establish an
auxiliary. The following officers
were elected. President - Mrs.
D.B.McRae; Vice President -
Mrs. Calder; Secretary - Mrs.
Allan Cameron; Treasurer Mrs.
T. Brown.
Mrs. Knight gave a most
interesting account of
the highlights of the organization
from 1902 to the end of 1946. This
will be continued in another
meeting.
Mrs. Earl Dunn conducted the
business and read a poem
"March". Mrs. Leslie Knight
read the minutes and the
treasurer, Mrs. Jack Knight
reported on the giVings. Cards
and visits to shut-ins were
recorded by Mrs. perrie. Mrs.
tylle Gordon reported that 45 lbs.
of used cards were sent' to
Huronview and used stamps to
the Canadian Bible Society. The
roll call was answered by 11
members giving: a personal
highlight of the W.M.S. The April
