Requests for assistance from
the Ability Fund have increased
by more than 67% in the last two
years, in spite of expanding
government services. Your dona-
tion will aid the March of Dimes
Ability Fund in fulfilling these
ever-increasing needs of the
handicapped. Give generously

Annual Orthopedic Clinics are
held throughout Northern Ont-
ario. At these clinics, many of
Ontario's top Orthopedic Specia-
lists examine hundreds of dis-
abled adults, eliminating what"
would otherwise' be a long and
often painful journey for the
disabled. This is just one of the
many services made possible by
your contribution to The March of
Dimes Ability Fund.

The resolution will be passed on
to Leo Burnier, OntarioMinister
of Natural Resources.
Council accepted the report
from the Executive Committee
after little discussion.
There were some questions on
changes to the Standing Rules
and Regulations, Part 11-- Duties
of Committees.
Some councillors asked if the
Executive Committee should be
empowered to appoint special
committees without council
approval.
The Executive Committee
would be able to appoint
members to Standing Committees
or Special Committees in the
event of a member resigning or in
the case of a member's death.
Cecil Desjardine, Executive
Committee chairman, said that
his group did not want to take that
responsibility.
Special committee members
receive extra pay. Matters
concerning money should come
before the council as a whole.
The executive committee also
recommended to council that a
Special Committee be formed
annually to review and consider
salaries of department heads. The
warden would be chairman of this
committee.
In making salary
recommendations, the committee
would present its reports to the
council as a whole.
The report also called on Huron
County to support a resolution
from the County of Lanark that
the provincial and federal
governments guarantee adequate
supplies of newsprint for weekly
newspapers.
The resolution states that
weekly newspapers ar e
considered "an integral and
essential part of cultural,
business and municipal affairs,"
The final recommendation of
the Executive Committee carried
by council stated that amend-
ments to motions must be
relevant and not in conflict to the
motions.
