That Council endorse the resolution from the. Village of Grand Bend resolving that the Provincial Government be asked to make such provision in the Municipal Act to allow the appointment of an Acting Reeve to attend County Council in the absence of the Reeve. - That the following memberships be paid for the year 1974. "Ontario Good Roads Association" $25.00; Ontario Farm Drainage $15.00; Ontario Association of Rural Munici- palities $30.00; Association of Municipalities of Ontario $30.00. That Mr. Ross Taylor, appointee to the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority for the Township be appointed by the Council, to vote on behalf of the municipality on the resolution to enlarge the area of jurisdiction of the authority .by addition of the watersheds under consideration East Wawanosh Council held it s 1974 inaugural meeting in the Belgrave Community Centre room on January 7th, with Reeve Pattison presiding and all the members present. Rev. John Roberts addressed the members giving guidance to the council and was thanked by Reeve Pattison. Council learned that tax collections last year had set a record when 96% of the levy had been collected. The balance of 4% represents $6,000 in arrears. Following the inaugural meeting members of council and officials were entertained by the Reeve to dinner. Mr. Bishop, Manager of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Wingham, Ontario, also met with Council. By-Law No.1, 1974, being a by-law to authorize the borrowing of $150,000.00 to meet, until taxes are collected, the current expenditures of the Municipality for the year, was given the necessary readings and passed. We discussed the Christmas party we had on the Tuesday 'before Christmas when we went sledding and afterwards had hot french-fries and soda to wash it down. Correspondent Mrs.Lewis Stonehouse On Saturday morning, the Belgrave Squirts won 7-5 over Belmore Squirts. The 13elgrave Tykes played on Saturday morning against Ford- wich Tykes and won 7-1. An exhibition game was played in Belgrave Arena between Wingham Pee-Wee House League against Belgrave Pee- Wees last week with 5-2 for Belgrave. Eight Tables in Play Eight tables of euchre were played at the Belgrave Com- munity Centre last Wednesday evening with winners as follows: High Lady-Mrs. Olive Walker; Low Lady-Mrs.Hazel Purdon; Lady's Novelty-Mrs. George Walker. High Man-William Gow; Low Man-William Taylor; Man's No- velty-Charles Brewer. Evening Unit Meets The January meeting of the Evening Unit was held at the home of Mrs. Laura Johnston with 18 present. Mrs. Murray Lougheed had charge of the worship service which opened by hymn "I Am So Glad That Our Father in Heaven", after which Mrs. Cliff Logan read the scripture lesson. A reading "Thank God for Little Things" by Mrs. Ross Anderson, also Mrs. Lougheed read "Winter Is". The collection was received and Mrs. Lougheed closed the worship with prayer. Hymn "Take Time to be Holy" was sung after which minutes of the last meting were then read. Mrs. Clifford Branton had as her theme for her program "Learn that our work is deter- mined by our view of Missions." Groups were formed on a question and answer period. followed. Lunch was served by Mrs. Ross Higgins' group. The February meet -ig is to be held at the home of Mrs. Cliff Logan. Personals Mr. and Mrs. David Lennox, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert LennN, Mr. and Mrs. William Geiger all of Listowel, and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Jamieson were visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Marshall of London and Mrs. William Buchanan and George Coo; of Blyth visited with the former's father Mr. Stanley Cook on Sunday. Mr. Bert Johnston is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kinn were recent visitors with Mr. and-Mrs. Norman Whetham of Harriston. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Goldhawk of Blenheim were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Branton. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Armstrong of Teeswater visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pletch on Sunday.
