Again ' Brussels residents are being disturbed in the early morning hours by car drivers who apparently consider the village street a drag strip. The sounds of roaring motors and screaming, smoking tires alarm people. It was brought to our attention that on Friday night of last week this kind of per- formance was in full swing. We were hopeful that this kind of reckless driving behaviour was not going to become a problem again this year. Ills remarkable that some of these speed freaks have not killed themselves or someone else. * * * * * The Brussels Legion Pipe Band are holding their Highland Ball on Saturday, June 23rd. This colorful annual event should attract a large crowd. If you are fortunate enough to own a kilt wear it and any other Scot- tish insignia you may have. Join in the merriment and support the Legion Band who are in need of increased funds to purchase the appropriate atixe for the 'new members of-tato:1.nd. * * * * * * This is Senior Citizens Week with the excellent slogan ["Living Is Ageless". Being a Senior Citizen does not mean you are ready to be shoved aside from the mainstream of life. Many have accomplished great things in their later years. One should not slump into an easy chair and lose interest in life but keep going. The human body is like a machine. If it is not used, kept active, like a machine, it becomes rusty, so to speak. Keep your interest and keep active. "Living Is Ageless!" • * * * * * * June is Dairy Month. Some- how this seems to underline the loss of the Brussels Dairy and Creamery, so long a part of the Brussels business community. A good many residents are some- what apathetic about the closing, not actually realizing the effect on this village. There will be fewer wage earners. Farmers, who for years have brought their cream and milk here must now dispose of it elsewhere, which, no doubt, will mean loss of business here. There will also be a loss of tax revenue.
