The Hall Board held another
euchre Monday March 19 with
ten tables in play, Mrt. Lothar
Weber was in charge and prizes
were given for high scores,
second highest and lucky cup.
Another euchre will beheld April
2nd.
The U. C. W. met at the home Of
Mrs. Albert Cardiff. March 22,
Mrs. Chester Earl opened the
meeting followed by the topic by
Mrs. James Struthert. Mra.W.F.
Hewitt, President for the month
conducted the business.
A miscellaneous shower was
held Friday evening In the United
Church basement for MissGloria
Jacklin, whose wedding will take
place early in April, Mrs. Ed
Gill welcomed the guests and each
signed their name on a tea towel
which was later given to the bride.

Godden led in singing. Mrs.
Chester Earl read an address and
the bride was presented with
many lovely gifts.
Helping her open them were
Mrs. Archie Jacklin, mother of
the bride, Mrs. Bowman, mother
of the groom, from Listowel.
Also helping was the bride's sis-
ter. The bride made a suitable
reply and invited the ladies to
her trousseau tea on March 31st.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Thelma Keifer, Bethany Keffer,
Mrs. Larry Keffer, Mrs. Brenda
Turner, Mrs. Lloyd Keffer and
other ladies also served,

MRS. ARTHUR H. EDGAR
Funeral service was held
Thursday, March 15, for Mrs.
Arthur H. Edger of Wingham
who passed away at the Wingham
and District Hospital on Monday,
March 12. Rev. K. Barry Pass-
more officiated at the afternoon
service which was held at the S.
J. Walker Funeral Home, Patrick
Street. Temporary entombment
followed in the Wingham ceme-
tery Chapel with spring burial to
be in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were five grand-
sons, Brian Edgar of Hamilton,
Barry Edgar of Petrolia and
Murray Edgar of Wingham, Don-
ald Edgar of Wingham, and a
nephew, Garnet Dowse of Cam-
bridge (Galt). Flower bearers
were Bruce Edgar, Toronto, Don-
ald and Douglas Craig of Blyth
and William Elston of Wingham.
Mrs. Edgar was in her 81st
year and death followed a lengthy
illness. The former Susan Ada
Mabel Dowse, she was born in
Culross Township, a daughter of
the late Thomas Dowse and Ruth
Ann Haynes. She attended Salem
Public School in Culross and on
April 7, 1915, married Ma.Edgar
In Wingham. They farmed on the
second concession of Morris
Township until their retirement
in 1948 when they moved to wing-
ham. Mr. Edgar predeceased his
wife on February 6, 1971.
Mrs. Edgar was a member of
the Wingham United Church.
Left to mourn her passing are
two daughters, Mrs. Lewis
(Helen) Stonehouse of Belgrave
and Mrs. Charles(winnifred)
Johnston of Blyth; two sons, Har-
vey Edgar of R.R,4, Wingham and
Maitland Edgar of Petrolia; thir-
teen grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one
son, Arthur Jr., in January of
1969; One brother and two sisters.
EDWARD SUMMERS
Edward Summers Of Brussels
area passed away in Wingham
and District Hospital on wedne s-
day, March 26th. He was in his
84th year.
Mr. Sumaiers, formerly of
the Markdale community, had
resided for a short time with
his daughter Mrs. Lloyd Mit-
chell, R,R.2, 13ruSsels.
He is survived by hiS wife,
the former Susan. Kinnear, for-
Merly of R.R.2, Markdale, now
of Brussels, and two daughters,
Mrs. Lloyd (Edna) Mitchell of
Brtistels, Mrs. Alex (Jean) Mit-
chell Of Ajax; five grandchild-.
ten and thirten great grand-
children; one brother; Norman

He WaS predeceased by three
brothers, Bert of Markdale,
deorge of Vandeltie and William
of Markdale and One Sister, Mrt,
Wes. (Jane) Fawcett of Hertley.
The funeral service Was held
from the M. L. Watt Funeral

day with Rev: D. todekea of
Walton. United Church officiating.
The committal service was
held at Markdale,
