CRANBROOK I 4-H
The Cranbrook I 4-H Club
met March 3 at the home of Mrs.
Ross Knight. The minutes were
read bylielennetherington, Mrs.
Knight Went over adjusting the
pattern fOr knits and altering
the pattern for pants. Mrs, Clare
VeitCh discussed altering the bo-
dice, cutting and marking. For
MO work each girl prepared
her pattern for pinning, diitting
and marking WAS then done. The
Meeting was closed with the
motto.
Cra.nbrOnk 11. 4-H Club Met
at the home of the leader Mrs.
G. Engel. The assistant leader
is Mrs. James Knight. The pro-
ject is making sportswear from
Knits. Officers are:,, President,
Anna Lee Stevenson; vice Fresi.

News from Brussels PS
Public Speaking .
Contestants in Grade 5 were:
Barbara jehnSton on Colonel San-
ders; Susan. Cardiff on Dogs;
Heather Wilson on Ce,nterinial;
and Sherry Robertson on Beef
Cattle.
Barbara Johnston was the
winner and went on to represent
the, school at Ripley,where she
wag chosen the winner over
eleven other girls and will now
compete in the branch finals
to be held.March 18 in Listowel.
Education Week
In conjunction with Educa-
tion Week April 8 - 14, Brus-
sels Public School is planning
an Open House which will include
a science display arid a games
night Wed. April 11. A morning
assembly featuring a chorus
from each grade will take place
on Friday April 13. We would
like to set up; a display of art
pictures and craft articles in
store windows of the town. If
any store owner is interested in
helping us in this endeavour
please contact the school

Winner
On Monday, February 26,
speeches were given by some
members of the Grade 5 and
6 classes.
The grade six students who
participated were; Donna Ait-
chison who spoke, about ',Cruelty
to Animals". Gloria White told
us about "Farming as she
saw it." Arlene Kufske spoke
about "Smoking." Catherine
Cardiff told us about one of her
hobbies, ,,Dancing," and the
speaker of "Cartoons" was
Karen Bridge.
The over-all winner in Grade
6 was Arlene Kufske.

BrOom Ball
On Sat. March 3, Brussels
Public School sent two teams to
F.E. Madill Secondary School,
Wingham for a tournament.
The boys'' team played very
well and managed to win over
Belgrave. Their next two games
were losses SO theywere finished
in the tournament.
The girls went right to the
top by first beating- Howick. Next
they went on to play Grey Cen-
tral beating them with a score of
5-3. They came to their first,
loss when playing against Howick
A. we lost by only a small.
margin.
Brussels was back in the race
when we beat Grey Central for
the second time.
The last game was with
Howick A again. The score was
2-1 for Brussels when at the
last minute Howick scored. To
break the tie we played a sudden
death gamewith Howick scoring.
Even' though the girls didn't
win they were •-happy with their
runner-up performance.
