There was a large gathering at the town
hall on Monday evening for the muni-
cipal nomination proceedings. After the
hour officially appointed Or receiving
nominations had passed Town Clerk
nominees, which ap-

then voted to the chair.
After an arrangement had been made
as to the length of time to be allowed to
each speaker, Mayor Munnings took the',
floor and gave a review of the past year's'
work. The council had started the year.
he said. with an overdraft of 130,((4),
and a further heavy obligation during the
year was the county rate: which had
trebled in four or five years. At the bed
ginning of the year the town was in a
bad way and people were leaving owing
0) the unsatisfactory industrial conditions.
They had succeeded in getting' the Na-
tional Shipbuilding Co to take over and
operate the forint'r Doty plant. They
had aka) adve�the Wheel Rigs plant
extensively, ad receives no offers
for the plant except that of Mr. Young -
son, of the Paget Company, and he was
not sure but that it would have been
better to accept his offer and get rid of
the expense of keeping up the factory,

but the council would not accept
proposition of Mr. tl'oungson. A coin -
any was organized about a year ago to
mmence shipbuilding here. and in con -

throughout the Dominion. The pro-
clamation cites the following message
from the King:
"To my people: The world-wide
