Mayon of Toronto and London Were
Re-elected
As a result of the elections on
January 1st. Mayor H. C. Hocken, of
Toronto, was re-elected by a moiler C7
of nearly 6,000. The question
municipal franchise for married mo-
men received support that was very
gratifying to those who are, working
for It in that city. Mayor C. M. R.
Graham, of London, was also re-
elected, having a majority. of :14 over
Ald. J. G. Richter. The Sunday street
by-law was carried, but the natural
gee by-law was defeated. John Allen
became Mayc- of Hamilton by accls-
mation.

with the local option campaign in
Morrlsburg was a writ issued by Mr.
J. R. Balfour, a 'teacher In the Morris -
burg public school, against Mr. George
N. Hickey, a member of the Board
of Education. Mr. Balfour, who is •
local option supporter alleges that
Mr. Hickey. who was canvassing In
opposition to the by-law. called at his
house and resorted to intimidation_
