used as vault sites. The report was
adopted.

Least Five Years -Proceedings re
the Bayfield Roan Sewer.
Beane Reid occupied the chair at the
regular meeting of the town council
on Friday evening. Councillors Clark.
Wallace, Elliott, Kelly and Vaaatter
also were present.
Among the communications re-
ceived was one from John McDonald
petitioning the council against under-
taking the construction of the pro-
posed sewer on Oxford street. This
was referred to the public works com-
mittee.
A request from the chief of police
.ora week's holidaym was granted.
A communi,:ation from the water
and light commission, requesting that
the sum of $4.(160 be placed to the
credit of the commission, wen rend
and referred to the finance committee.
A letter from Chas. C. Lee con-
tained an offer to purchase the sum-
mer hotel for the sum of $4.(100. After
considerable discussiou it was moved
by Councillor Elliott, seconded by
Councillor Clark. that the hotel be
sold to Mr. Lee for the sum men-
tioned, Mr. Lee agreeing to have the
run as • summer hotel for at
five years and to pay all taxes.
This was carried and the matter of
closing the deal was referred to the
special committee with power to con-
sult the solicitor. Councillor Wallace
was the only our to vote against the
motion.
A letter from N. W. Trewartba,
clerk of Goderich township, stating
that the township council refused to
grant permission ft r the construction
of the Bay field road sewer a'pt'opo.el•
was refereed to the public works com-
mittee.
A communication from the town
solicitor, drawing attention to the fact
that the Railway Cornmi'mion would
meet in Toronto October 12th, when
the question of interswitchang at
Goderich might be taken up, WAS re-
terred to the special committee.

in all directions in the construction
and opening for traffic of the lines of
tbe Grand Trunk Pacific. Recent re-
ports given out announced the com-
pletion of the line to Fitzhugh. a point
