THE POLITICAL SITUATION.
A NUMBER of our outside oontem
poraries are in • state of mind as to
what will be the result politi;ally in
West Heron in the near future.
From them we learn that Mr. OAE-
sow is to take the Dominion, and
that Mr. Houma is to take the Local ;
also that Messrs. HOIJiar, GRANT,
HOLT, PEOUD)oor and others are fact
going to take the Dominion nomina-
tion, and that Mr. G•ttaow will again
ran for the Legislature.
Our e.teemed contemporaries need
not worry,
The Liberals in Went Huron have
usually been able to attend to all of
the work neoeesary in their own con-
stituency, and they are in good fettle
to lick things into shape when election
time domes round.
No individual has a right to say
who shall be the candidate for either
the Commons or the Legi.lature at
the cooling election. A oonventton of
the Liberal electors of West Huron
will be duly called, and at that eon-
- mention 1leotoes shall
be heard.
The mem who will be chosen will be
the unanimous choice of the people,
and will have the full force and
strength of Liberalism at their back,
coos they are selected.
For the pant year or two there have
been disintegrating influences at work
which have told to some extent
against Liberalism in Huron oounty,
bat happily these influences are loosen-
ing each day in the West Riding, and
we are in hops that the last vestige of
lack of banana] will be removed by
the time ebtMon day come. round.
What is wasted iia the a .tech
Oommonn siairegisliture is the man
who, in each care, will poll the largest
vote. To do this he mast have ohar-
astsr and ability. We haysssoh mein
in the Liberal ranks, and them Amid
be no difficulty is- tli V* Se conven-
tion reoorniae them: Any of the men
above named will stand up well with
the best oandidste the Conservatives
may put in the field, and ought to win
im a walk should a contest take place.
Tn. Maim, is very willing to await
the action of the convention.
IT SHOULD es AMENDED.
THERE ie a loses line in the election
politics basinees.
The way the Lew stands now it s I
nothing but • game of bluff, and the
man who has the nerve to stay may
win out.
The petitions now entered are in
roost cases fishing ezpedatisis, and are
usually instituted not beams there is
• osides e, but in the hope that some

If the expected does not happev,
toes the petitioner has it at will to
